Question Bike Storage in U.S.

Hello everybody,
I was wondering if there are shops/places throughout the USA who offer mc travelers from other countries the possibility of mid to long-term bike storage. For example: I've met several people in South America last year who traveled for 6 months, left their bike at a mc shop for 6 months to go back to work, and then returned to continue on with their journey. I would love to travel the USA that way, so I am trying to find out about my mc storage options. I would be grateful for any advice or idea. Thank you!

I used to store my bike during the winter in a storage unit like Storage Deluxe. After setup fees it would probably be $40 a month. Places like that generally want you to drain the fluids, but I would just walk it from around the corner while off and was never questioned. Employees are making $9 an hour, they don't really care what you put in there.

There are also plenty of people here that would give you some garage space without question, I'd trust most of these fools here

Any US town of any size will have rentable "self-storage" units where a bike can be stashed away in an individual locked indoor storage room. Do a google search for "self-storage" or "mini-storage" for the city where you'd like to leave the bike(s).

The storage unit is the first thing that popped into my head as well, but coming back to a bike with a dead battery and a flat tire isn't so appealing. So I thought maybe there are mc shops around that would offer a similar service and I could ask them to start the bike every once in a while and keep an eye on it.

Harley shops and some other independent shops offer the same storage services.

Maybe post up in in Regionals, maybe an Inmate will store it for you. If you are in SC, I'd be glad to, just leave the keys (and a full tank of gas!)

I'd be happy to store it in Colorado. Locked garage or shed, even on the side of the house.

Done it a couple of times for travelers. My usual charge is a case of good beer or a nice scotch.

The shop I work for in western NY does long term storage in a heated warehouse. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks for moving my post to trip planning! And thanks for all the replies. That's awesome!! I guess for now I'd be looking for a storage place in the South East. Florida, Georgia, etc. SC may be an option.
It's a BMW F650. I contacted BMW Tampa, but they never replied. I'll keep looking ...

Not surprising.

Call Hap's Cycle Sales in Sarasota, about 50 miles south of Tampa. 1-800-303-4277. Ask for Bob Poneliet, the owner and tell him Brooks in Tampa said to call.
