Same here.

I tend to plan my breaks near trouty spots. Since I'm off the bike taking a leak or having a snack I figure I might as well string up the rod and check things out. I do a lot of run and gun trout scouting. Ride to the access and fish up / down stream for a 50 yards or so. Gives some what of an idea of what the area is about and if it is worth exploring at some future time. Then back on the bike and off to the next spot.

Another option is riding during the less desireable fishing times. IE early to mid morning during the early season. Day time during the Hex hatch. Fish the morning Tricos in August then hop on the bike.

Just some ideas.

The fn weather man never seems to think it will. And he's always wrong.

It only does if Im on the bike. Which in turn, seems to follow rt 80 straight east across Pennsylvania. I swear, a few times coming home it seemed like the storm was only raining on 80! Black cloud down pouring the highway, yet sunshine on either side.

Im starting to get used to it now. Its gonna rain either on the way there, or the way home. Usually mind it less, when I have a killer weekend on the creek like last weekend.

I could never figure out why people play with tiny fish while flyfishing, if you are going catch and release, get it in fast and release or get it in fast and eat it. I did have some good fun watching in Loreto BCS when some guys in a boat neat us tried to catch a hot Dorado bite on fly gear

I finally picked up a Cabella's Stowaway6 7.5' flyrod and lightweight reel specifically for moto camping. WORKS GREAT. I can fit the broken down rod inside my camelback!

GROUSE RIDGE LOOKOUT 7500' NEVADA COUNTY, CA.

Tested out the concept with the vintage XL650R up to the High Sierras for a day ride, hike and fish....

How does that Stowaway cast for you? I've heard they are nicer than the price would indicate. Do you like it?

Casts great for a shorter rod. You can really fling it out there. Great price at Cabelas too.
You can see the action in the vid.

Very Nice. We live in Mississippi so our closest real trout water is North Georgia or Smoky Mountains. I miss it bad. Congrats on your fish. Very nice!

You win!!!

That's what I call a Stonker!

Mind you, I have got bigger, but that was using snorkel and hand spear and he was hiding 2-3m back under a heavily undercut bank on the Ovens River, just out of Harrietville at the base of Mt Hotham, Victoria, Australia...

But I ain't got nuthin like that on flies... So You Win!

:congratulations :cheers!
