Hello all

Does anybody use the dualsportmaps app for navigation. I will be using it on my droid x. I usually upload to the website then it automatically shows the tracks when i search on my phone.

Does anyone know if one can upload tracks directly to the app? I just want to make sure I can upload the tracks without issues the morning of the ride (especially since I am rolling solo as of now so I need those tracks).

If not I will call Dave and see if I can get it through email ahead of time.

Thanks guys, Matt

I would not use a phone for nav purposes up there, cell service is weak in the area. Get into a group and enjoy the ride.

Dualsportmaps is awesome...no need for cell coverage. One can download maps and tracks that work offline with the phones GPS.

But i like what you said about finding a group and riding.

See you guys soon

Matt

This wasn't on the route either :

But this was:

I encountered this on Friday afternoon as I rode from home to the event. This was on 5S25 just below Crow Peak. Going uphill on my loaded down WRR
I knew I couldn't get over it so I had to backtrack to Roundhill Road and caught 49 to get to the lodge, made it just in time for dinner. Turned out that
this deadfall was on the Saturday ride. I think I was the first one to encounter it that morning, but at the time I figured everybody else was ahead of
me and if they'd made it I would have to as well. Managed it without too much drama, wasn't pretty though. Downhill and no camping gear made it a
lot easier. The riders behind me used their heads, piled up branches in front of the log to give other riders a bit of a ramp. Finally some jeepers came
through and obliterated the blockage later that afternoon.

Caught the wrath of the the SOTSNF Executive Director on Friday evening when I refused to erase every track on my GPS before the Saturday tracks
were loaded and then when I said I didn't have a roll-chart holder his look could have frozen hell-fire.

Folding the roll-chart and putting it in my mapcase ("MAPS WON'T DO YOU ANY GOOD ON THIS RIDE!!!") worked just as
well as a roll-chart holder...

The best part of the event was the two riders I got to meet from Southern California--Tony & Chris. The three of us were the only campers who weren't
"camping" in RV's so we were politely but firmly escorted to the low-rent district back behind the kitchen. Kind of like the briar patch, we had a great
place--afternoon shade, quiet, secluded (the rattlesnakes were very cooperative) and we had a great time trading whoppers, telling stories, bench racing
and drinking a good variety of lagers and ales. Hadn't had a Negra Modelo since I was in Baja 6 months ago...
