KTM640 LC4 Analogue Speedo Rebuild Info Required

Hi,

Had a hunt around but can't find anything on the above

I have a 1998 640 with the old, black plastic box style speedo

On run recently the odometer stopped working and the trip dials are full of dust. The speedo works fine

I want to open the box to clean out the inside and get the odo working again. I had a little prise around but decided to see if there was any higher knowledge here

Has anyone any experience of opening up the box?

In advance - Thanks

most likely your cable broke. i lost count of the number if times i broke mine before ditching the whole thing. as for ccleaning the box, just pull it off, remove the lights, and then fill with water and shake it out. i would not try and take it apart. let it air dry well, reinstall the lights and call it good.

laters,

laramie

I'm not sure about the water thing, unless it was distilled water (no spotting), but what I did was to remove the lights and blow into it with an air compressor. That seemed to work fairly well, not perfect, but pretty good.
