I've been routing myself on every road on my little map, including the course and the insane rush hour traffic past the scoreboard and stands in Douglas. Somehow I figured since it was a race course....rode the stunning road descending into Port Erin, only pic was left handed with nowhere to park

This morning discovered the only coffee shop with wifi in Ramsey was part of a bowling alley, I had it all to myself

Brilliant, if you like small roads, and the sea, you are in the right place!

Dmcd, thank you for sharing your love of this place, in a way I'm glad that it's a quiet time between races but now my appetite is whetted for more. I've done the course both directions and quite frankly it scared the shit out of me thinking about how bloody fast the bikes are going, especially the mountain section. Sitting in the Raven Pub I realized that little bridge was 'that' little bridge and I busted out laughing at how lucky I am, cheers from the tractor Transalp.

Fats Domino

Sang about Blueberry Hill but he didn't get to help Grandmum pick blueberries. On the way from Pt. Erin to Peel I saw these folks in the bushes picking something so a u-turn and discovered these tiny blueberries. I was soon helping Grandmum and her crew pick these little gems

A little further along I stopped for a panorama from left to right, you can provide the seamless stitching.

Wound up here for the night. In the morning had a relaxed breakfast and dried the tent. Discovered the down side of a waterproof floor when I dumped my fresh coffee. Discovered the benefits of a slope cause it was easy to soak up.Tonight I am in the lap of luxury, my first commercial guest house. Early tomorrow I have to catch a ferry and the weather is turning and, and, and I deserve it.

Tucked into a corner on the ferry drinking the worst cup of coffee on the planet. The machine has buttons labeled expresso, cappuccino, etc. and way down on the bottom is a small button labelled TWCOCOTP. But it was neutralized by my research when I found out the Gibb Bros. of Bee Gees fame were born here, which brings me round to this and wondering if this is the source of their 'Mining Disaster' tune

And the little train that hauled the ore, I had driven past this in the dark and fog

Earlier I had a quick dip at this little bay, it was brisk but enjoyable

Because I had ordered heated towels, we're talking lap of luxury, right? The fleet is on the way with the towels

Fresh new hostel

Arrived in Heysham to pouring non stop rain and headed to Alston to find a hostel(blue dot) Tiffany had told me about. One of her friends is opening it and it's a gem. I was the 4th guest and they are about 80 per cent complete.

This is going to be a rather posh joint so put it on your let's go list.

This guy, known for his road kill talks at the English Hubb, is the nut job responsible

Pretty soon the parking lot is going to be filled with bikes, in September he and his wife are having a mini Hubb meeting there

We went into Alston today to the bike and car museum, with 10 Morgan's out for a show. I learned that in Northern England the correct pronunciation for scone is to rhyme it with gone. Who'da thunk?

Eyore, Aussiehobo is another of Martin's biker scum, hung out with him for awhile at Martin's 'resort'? Terry, if you start a RR we can all share in your trek, mate.

The hostel was a great mix of friends visiting, kids, food, construction history and local council politics. This is a miniature building across the road, in the original state of the large house

The first issue faced were the underground springs, one shooting out of a 3" fissure, holding tanks, membranes, manifolds, etc. The mine entrance has a lot of water flowing as does the waterfall adjacent to the property

Here are some shots taken in the early 40's

And a current pic with the mine shaft, the left side of the structure is original, the right lower section is a fresh addition. Beautiful job of matching stone

This caravan is a VW extended cab pickup, usually used by town work crews. The trailer is on planks, rollers on the rear of the bed and it's winched on and off. Slick design for a fun couple and their kids.

More bikes needed

Walkers too

Some more pics of the so close to being finished it hurts. Caravan park across the road, tents on leveled terraces behind the house

Some interior shots

And heated by these cast iron throwbacks, I love these beasts. bring your crayons(just kidding)

Alston car and train and Motobike

Alston has a small motörhead museum, some nuggets preserved here

More from the museum later, I'm being Internet challenged. Across the street was a train depot with full sized stuff

A few more museum goodies

I'm learning to hang a little longer in the places that have a good wifi signal the further north I go, especially anything with Bistro in the name
