Nullabor trip

Guys just after a bit of inmate knowledge ,I'm going to be freighting my GSA from Sydney to Perth in the next couple a weeks and catching up with family over there ,Then riding back to Sydney.I will be doing the Nullabor and the flinders ranges and home through Broken Hill.I was hoping to get some feedback from inmates who have done the trip before on things to watch out for and places to see.I won't have a great deal of time but I don't want to miss out on too much. Thanks .

Fuel

Refuel at Eucla not Border Village. 10km west and 100mtrs off the road will save you 16-25 cents a litre.

Better service also.

Shipping is usually cheaper from Perth rather than to Perth... if you want to save same cash.

Mundrabilla Road house

Burger with the lot - $9.90. Cheaper than Perth. Coffee was ordinary.

When you get to SA, head a little north into the Gawler Ranges - stunning country with heaps of wildlife when I went through. Continue east via Mt Ive station to Iron Knob.

If you come via Esperance, give me a holler. Have aplace to stay if you want. Can talk about some of the tracks over the N, caves, scenery. And if you have a Garmin, can give you some tracks.

Hi Squily,
I was in Esperance a few weeks ago riding the bikes with a mate back from WA to SA & forgot all about you being in Esperance. Really sorry I didn't look you up.

MM I've done the Nullabor a few times over the last 4 months or so.
If you stop at Norseman the c'van park on the Esperance road is good.
Fraser Ranges is supposed to be really good but I haven't been past there at the right time to stop in. They do hot meals between 6 & 6.30pm I think.
Good food at Caiguna everytime I've been past. Last time had a great lemon merangue pie, took me all of the next day to get the sugar out of my system - perfect.
The old highway was good. We picked it up at border village & camped along it in the only protected area - few small trees & large scrub on the right about half way along to Nullabor roadhouse. I'm not sure about staying on it after Nullabor roadhouse, couple of riders that tried to do it said it was restricted access - Yalata homeland
If you don't do the old eyre highway there is suppose to be 2 abandoned homesteads between the border and Nullarbor Roadhouse. Koonalda 14km N of highway 86.6km E of border village but I think the track is just past the 87 marker. Gilgerabbie is 4.7km S of highway 11km W of Nullarbor roadhouse. I haven't been past these at the right time to look for them but plan to on future trips

Head of the bight I reckon is worth the stop even without the whales.

If it is the end of the day & you are near Nundroo - DON'T STOP - if you need somewhere to stay keep going east & take the main turnoff to Fowlers Bay. Camp ground is just ok but it is a great little place to stop. Make sure you have food with you.

Peterborough Cvan park is biker friendly to say the least & if Neal (DRZWALKER) is home he can tell you about the Flinders. Your trip through the Flinders will be pretty quick. If you miss Peterborough stay at Agorichina ( has fuel) & have a Blinman Burger at Blinman pub ( no fuel). In case you don't already know you are not likely to get fuel at the Prairie Hotel either. You probably won't have time to do any PAR's but you could come back another time I guess.

Have a great trip. I love doing it & it seems different each time. Remember the eagles are slow to move.
