West Brisbane cylinder reboring?

Anyone know of a place that does bike cylinder rebores in Brisbanes western suburbs or Ipswich area?

I need a 50cc two stroke bored out but I'm stuffed if I'm having a bit of trouble finding someone.

Just have to be competent and preferably cheep.

Nope, a machine Trev has to fit a new piston into so he can sell it to pay for shiny things for the 3 KTMs and his next trip away...

Hey mate,

I'm in Indooroopilly, so West-ish and I looked around for about 2 weeks for someone other than Serco, with no luck. Most of the car or small engine places charged a fair bit, and most of the bike shops I called said they sent their stuff off to Serco.
Rang a few guys who used to do it as a hobby even, think one guy was near Yerongapilly? But all of these blokes had either stopped working or didn't live there anymore.

So I went with Serco. Alan was a a nice guy and everything went fine. Well actually it turns out after I put the engine back together that the big end was gone so I had to go back to get the cylinder re-hone and a new rod fitted, but that's a different story and irrelevant to their workmanship. Seemed like they did a good job, but I know next to nothing about this kind of work so wouldn't be able to say if they honed it well etc.

Basically, Serco is the only place I could find in Brisbane. I'd love to hear if someone else knows a place though! Next time I might take it home with me to Gympie though, I've heard that there's a shop up there that really know there shit...

Cheers,

John

Mendham

Back when I was playing with cars a lot I used Mendham at Rocklea. They did mostly diesel and heavy engineering in those days too.

If their gear can handle something that small I'm confident they would do a good job

I took a Rotax barrel to Serco (they were very helpfull).
Only thing is they could not do nickelsil bore (2011 Aug).
They were so helpfull!!

Also there is a bloke about 6 doors up the road that reco's heads.
He is fantastic..... Aprilia genuine parts ( UK ) screwed up an order, this guy looked at the problem and said " Toyota valve seals will fit".
Saved me lots of money and Time.
