The above posts do bring up my only gripe so far: that gel stores solar heat for a long time.

Thx guys for all the advice, you taught me a lot.

I just heard back from Corbin. For $75 plus shipping, they'll uncover the seat and insert soft foam in the tailbone area, and recover.

That's going to be my first route. If that doesn't work I'll try a custom seat or a ktm gel.

I have lower back issues also. I have the saddlemen adventure track seat on both my bikes and they really help me, a little funky looking but they work.

Cool2 Best Seat that fits

I must say I have a 2012 Adv 990 love tHe bike in many ways. The seat I had cut down for my inseam it was ok rode it on a 3300 mile trip (Great Trip Alabama,Deals Gap,roads in W N.C. WOW!) the seat works ok then I decided to go with a KTM lower suspension 25mm w/stand. And had the seat sent to Kalifornya to Seat Concepts an had the lower kit installed in my seat! Got it all back together and like it all! The seat is ok better than before ok. Now after a month of riding forgot about it that is really good I would say its like a KTM the more you ride it the more you like it! Other bikes good right from the start then become different after a month or when the new wears off. The seat is a keeper to me hope you'll find this info helpful!

Update:

I never had to send the seat anywhere. I have been using the Corbin AND the stock seat, rotated the bars forward a few mm, WOW what a difference. It WAS posture issue like a previous poster stated. No more tailbone pressure.

Cool2 Seat

Great to hear how that Corbin is working for you! I sent the seat off but it comes as DIY kit for you to do at home my case was bike in the shop so while its in there I'm leaving in couple weeks for my trip I sent it to them it was timing!
But glad to hear no more problems good luck and happy trails!

Here's some pics of the Corbin with a better grippy cover from Jettrim here in Havasu. No padding mods, but the bars forward is now giving me the correct posture while the grip keeps me there once I'm in a good position.

Also, standing while riding and this seat work well. Perfect width for that.

$100 for the cover job:
