New F800GS first time DS owner

Hey everybody,
Been lurking for a while, going to continue to lurk in the meantime… but wanted to introduce myself and my new bike.

After tons of internet searches, reviews and test rides I decided the F800GS was right for me and pulled the trigger on a new 2013 model in Alpine White. Even went to a further dealership to pick it up since I really wanted that color. Wish yellow was still an option.

Coming from a Harley background, and very limited dirt background. Not really looking to go off down single trails just looking for something I could take about anywhere I would actually be going. In the past I have had to go down miles of dirt and gravel roads on my sportster and it was not all that fun. Hoping to hit more off road now that I can. Not very many options where I am living though.

Over all impression... I really like this bike. Got the low seat; 2 1/2hr ride home and no complaints at all. Stock windshield was fine for me. Puts air around forehead level but no complaint so far. Stock Pirellis on there right now, I think some K3’s will go on next once I start going in some dirt.

Heres a quick pic since threads are pointless without them…. I have already ordered a ton of goodies to be added on. Ill post new pics as I get them on. Standard panniers, crash bars, exhaust and barkbusters...

Sportster (super low in comparison)

Looks awesome. If you can make the time go to rawhyde riding school. You will be amazed at how well the f800 does in the dirt. Enjoy your new bike. Looks awesome next to the sportster.

Thanks guys.

J&K- I look up RawHyde and that looks pretty damn cool. Except Im in Virginia. One thing I want to try to do is go to the BMW class in SC. The dealership I bought from here does a group session there couple times a year. So hopefully I can get to one.

Waiting to get off road till my crash bars get here. Also have the issue of the Perellis not being the best for off road but no money to drop on tires at the moment.
