Go south on 275 and check out he skyway bridge and the rest areas around it. You should also check out FT. Desoto, Dunedin-Honeymoon island.

Anna Marie island is also very scenic.

Cedar Key for camping and maybe roll down ozello trail. Great little restaurant at the end.

FWIW I haven't been tempted to take the Uly off road in FL and haven't ridden the DS (plated XR650R) since I moved here a yr and a half ago. I was averaging ~30k miles/yr before moving to FL, now I rarely ride. Not much off road and what there is is pretty flat and dull, same for the paved stuff. Buy a boat for FL fun and leave a moto in Colorado for moto fun (SW has a direct flight to Denver that almost always cheap) I'll have to get out and explore more FL riding though as I do miss it. Maybe this winter.

I was having similar thoughts today after riding around town.

I recently switched from a V-Strom to a Tenere, mostly due to the type of riding I like to do.The Tenere will do fine on most Florida dirt roads, forest service roads, with the correct tires, just don't it expect it to do everything a smaller bike would do.When not in the dirt it handles back country roads, hiways and interstates just fine.....Rick

I grew up in Clearwater. Not much riding there. Mostly stop and go traffic. I currently live in Brooksville and have a DR650 for daily commuting and exploring the woods around here. I use Shinko 244's for my tires. Cheap, yet functional. There are plenty of good touring roads through Pasco and Hernando. As for off road you will want to check out Croom, Citrus, and Richloam tracts of the Withlacoochee State Forest. There are plenty of other places, but that will get you started. Sugar sand is a fact of life around here. Also, look at joining Dixie Dual Sport. They are a good group of people.

Perhaps a turbo'd TW200 with a 20T front sprocket?

You're small people, right?

I am in Largo with an FJR1300 and a KLR650. The KLR gets most of the miles. The streets here are kinda rough and there is rarely an opportunity to play with horsepower. Even 19 rarely opens up enough for the FJR to be taken out.
There are some off road riding areas about an hour away but I haven't been there yet.
