Shimming done and on the road.

Wanted to once again give a shout out and thank you for AVDRider for assistance with a G/S transmission. Everything is done and went out for a ride yesterday 6/16/13. Shifted through all gears smoothly,no leaks,no abnormal noises. Will start to venture farther from the shop today and from now on. This all started out with a broken pawl spring and after my first re-assemble there seem to be something not quite right when I spun the back wheel before assembling all the rest. Made the choice to pull it out and apart again(tough one for me) and found the output shaft bearing, case side, had a broken ball bearing cage. It was scrubbing itself and thankfully not the case. Ordered new bearings from Ted Porter and got a little advise then onto pressing bearings and re-shimming again. Didn't get the output shaft bearing on all the way and really threw off my shim plate measurements. Rectified that and onward. The resources are just great and comments fun too. Thank you all. Now on the G/S for a trip on 89A in AZ.

Good to read that you bit the bullet and pulled it back out to fix it properly.

The good thing is, your damn motor can't read. If it says oil on the container, it's pretty much OK to dump in there.... ED.
