Laugh Logging Roads Above Scappoose, OR

I had a few hours free so I went to poke around some logging roads outside of Portland.

Delorme said that Rabinsky Road didn't go through, Benchmark said it was gated. Benchmark was right.

PNW!

Made my way back to Dutch Canyon and up Mountain View to here. Holaday Road. Great name, great road!

From here I went West on Pisgah Home Road, thinking I'd wind my way to Vernonia off-road. The first part of Pisgah is pretty much all baby head size rocks so I took my time.

But it mellows out and turns into nice gravel and dirt. Some nice views too!

The area is being actively logged so there are a lot of offshoots. Dead ended here.

After retracing my route for a mile I tried another road and it went through to a road I guess was the Scappoose-Vernonia Highway. I went East, found I was right, and zipped back to Portland.

I didn't make it as far West as I wanted but I'll take some different turns next time and see where I end up!

Thanks for the report. I grew up in Portland and have been nostalgic for the area for some time! Keep posting!

That is very much what I want to explore. Don't even have the bike yet, but I'm comin'. Keep up the reports, they are inspiration. Beaverton is home base, so not very far off your starting point. Thanks for sharing.

I have a bike, but I live on the wrong coast. I'd love to spend some time riding out there. Beautiful country.
