More Grand Canyon questions

I have vacation for 2 weeks starting on 10/21 and, having never been to the Grand Canyon (believe it or not) was thinking of heading out there and riding through a few other places.

Main question is is this too late weatherwise? I'll be keeping it wimpy (on road, staying in hotels) so camping/off roading isn't a worry.

Also wpndering about the north rim (higher elevation, chances of snow?).

I'll mostly be keeping to the old 66 on the way out, seeing some friends in Needles and hitting up Oatman, etc. Any suggestions for other road rides in the area?

BTW, cheap KLR rider here so no gps...

Thanks in advance all!

my only recommendation

hike minimum 45 minutes down south Kaibab trail to get a real feel for the GC - its on the south rim - may need a shuttle bus

take water, sunhat

GC is worthless unless you drop down into it a bit

Bright Angel trail is useless - its in a narrow side canyon (N&S rims).

Go to the north rim if at all possible. The south sucks in comparison and has 3x's the people. Night temps will be cool (40's) but nothing bad. We just did a 1,400 miles loop and had a blast.

Have fun,

Do the loop! Catch Zion, Bryce, part of Hwy 12, north rim, and then the south rim(if you really must).

Nice time of year for the southwest, it should be fantastic.

Thanks all! If I have time, I'd love to do the loop and see Bryce again (so much prettier than Zion imho).

I plan to do both the north and south rim and, yes, a hike downis on the agenda! So, no worries of snow, the plan is on!
