Okay, you fail to understand that this is all just a sideshow. You also fail to consider that the source for your arguments has a vested interest in ending ethanol. You also fail to consider why oil companies would rather buy credits than to meet the EPA blending requirements.

If everyone simply put little Stevie88 on ignore and quit quoting him this would be a good thread.

(I think he smoked too much corn silk)

The dead giveaway to that hit job was the reverence to the power of the farm lobby. Compared to the power big oil has, farmer groups are minnows swimming in a sea of sharks.

From opensecrets.org

Energy /Natural Resources ranked #9 (this includes power and mining companies as well as oil companies)
Agribusiness ranked #11

Those are some big minnows in those special interest groups

Agribusiness encompasses much more than just farmer interests. Often those goals are diametrically opposed. Besides that, farm groups represent hundreds of thousands of farmers. It's quite a different case when compared to energy producers.

So you're saying there are more greedy farmers than oil tycoons.

API advertising campaign against ethanol.

Quote:
SIOUX FALLS, SD -
A new television ad that slams ethanol is fueling some controversy. The 30-second TV commercial, paid for by the American Petroleum Institute, features someone dressed as a mechanic criticizing the increased use of ethanol as a motor fuel.

From AAA;
Quote:
In an official statement released this past week, the AAA spoke out against the American Petroleum Institute (API) ads, stating that “this commercial is the latest in a series of communications on social media and elsewhere which portray AAA as being ‘anti-ethanol’. This is not the case … AAA remains a strong supporter of the development and use of alternative fuels such as ethanol.

You make the decision, is Big Oil spending the money on advertising in the consumer's interest, or their own best interest.

cheers,
melby

wrong

my 2007 R1200GS adventure gets 3-4 mpg less with Ethanol gasoline, Hand calculated - I'd say 3-4 MPG less is drastic, (just thought I should say this again) in case some didn't get it. :)

Can't really determine that without knowing your mpg. if you get 20mpg, 3-4mpg is significant. if you get 50mpg, it's less so.
Either way, it's less miles from a gallon of fuel.

When I read this quote it sounds like a statement in favor of ethanol yet not actually stating that AAA is in favor of ethanol. It does make clear that they are in favor of development of alternative fuels.
AAA, like most every other large corporation's container is mostly full of feces.
