Question The TAT on an R1200GSA?

Thanks for an amazing forum from a new member in Cape Town, ZA. I'm sure I'll find everything I need to know about that once-in-a-lifetime trip I've always wanted to do across the USA.

I stumbled across this forum by accident after 'Googling' "coast to coast offroad", which led me to the Trans-America Trail and Joe's tragic accident video on YouTube. I still shudder when I watch it ... Joe, we're all glad you're okay. It could've been deadly ... it could've been one of us!

This brings me to my question, can the TAT be completed on an R1200GSA? The sheer drops on some of those trails (Moab and Tomichi Pass for example) don't leave much room for error. Is it as bad as it looks on the videos, are there alternative routes for those who may find these stretches too risky? Has anyone completed the trip on a big boxer ... any posts on the forum? Could one camp in one of the canyons for the night?
