Windshield position - extra low?
I received a Givi windshield this weekend and tried out all 3 positions...not quite right. I like the broadness compared to the stock windshield but still get too much helmet buffetting.
On every single one of the 13 bikes I've owned I've found that what works best for me is to lower the windshield and get my helmet straight into the airstream. So I took the rear bolts out and lowered the Givi windshield one notch lower than the normal low. During the ride to work this morning I had smooth, clean air around my helmet, but my neck and chest were warm from the lack of airflow. Plus the extra width of the Givi kept my shoulders mostly out of the windstream as well. I think I've found my windflow panacea for the GS. Now I need to find a way to hold the windshield in this position. I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about this yet, but thought I would appeal to the board before I go tinker. Has anyone else done this? If so, how'd you attach the windshield to keep it from falling down over big bumps? Thanks!

I took off the black plastic mounting plates on the wind screen. Drilled new mounting holes in the screen and remounted the plates. My remounted stock screen has three settings. Lowest (just a fraction off the inst pod), middle and highest which is about the stock lowest. I run with it in the middle position. Lowest produces smoother air but has less protection from rain. |

I also have the GIVI and don't notice much difference in any position. I get mucho wind blast on my shoulders and mucho wind NOISE in my helmet, but no pressure, I can tell the blast is going over my head. I have a nice Arai Quantum and it is supposed to be quiet, but I've never found a real quite helmet. I am 6' and average proportions. Do the reat of you get a big blast on the shoulders?

Wind
Hey Wind is Good...So is good bikin'.
My 22" Aeroflow is great for wind protection and long cruises, short hops, gravel, dirt, asphalt all the shit you can ride on. If I was jumping over 20 buses then it may be too tall, but I will attempt that on something other than my GS. There's still plenty of wind on the GS with an Aeroflow. I rode today in Minnesota with a 30 degree air temperature with no wind chill factor. Add the 70 MPH head wind that I created and I will say I was very comfortable. Heated grips, hand guards and Shoei 900. Life is Good. Killen |

I find the middle position of the Givi fairly quiet. The problem I've had is having a vertically positioned windshield so far out in front of my head obscures my view of the ground directly in front of the bike. This makes deciding where to focus my eyes when coming to a stop difficult and disorienting.
Am I the only one?
