Heading home via the Gulf, FNQ to the Sunny Hoax

Im leaving Pine Creek in the NT in the morning heading home via the Gulf, FNQ maybe even some of the Cape, Cooktown etc. No real plan except I know where I'll be tomorrow night. If anyone is out and about and is riding around or just wants to catch up for a beer along the way I'll be keen

Stopped at the very Flash Roper Bar store for lunch yesterday - awesome steak sandwich though and it was all looking good.

Road from Roper to Cape Crawford which is part of the Savannah Way was pretty average with patches of bulldust that were pretty deep and ran out of skill and dropped the DR. That 606 front tyre is rubbish and is off the bike as soon as I find a bike shop. Yep Podge you were so right! Took 6 hrs to do 400kms with a couple stops including a couple of DRs that were running out of fuel.

No many pics yesterday as just wanted to make the Kms and didnt get to the Heartbreak Hotel until 6pm as it was.

Stayed the night at Cape Crawford which was cool, even an Aussie girl behind the bar. Took a Hel flight to the Lost City which was awesome then rode down to Burketown to find out that you cant buy beer anywhere as the pub burnt down, not even a take away to be had.

Its pretty hot already up this way, hope not so bad for the guys in WA doing the desert raid.

Tomorrow heading east then north towards Cairns with an over night stop on the way somewhere. Maybe Mount Surprise although as always open to suggestions although not going via the Burke Development Road.

Top pics !

Some fairly remote areas by the look of it, must be very satisfying doing it solo too.

Dunlop 606 front - without a doubt worse knobby DR front tyre ever for me.

Good luck with the rest of the adventure.

+1 - Great pics pete

That Lost City area looks amazing - hadn't heard of it before - ashamed of my ignorance at times.
Safe riding for the rest of your trip

Really jealous Pete! Have wanted to see that part of Australia since I first saw it on an old episode of Bush Tucker Man long ago. Has been on my bucket list ever since. Are you having to carry much extra fuel, or is the safari tank enough?

Safe travels!
