Wayburn - Estevan all year?

Hi there people hope all is well.
I am landing on your shores on the 30 of July and its a one way ticket!!!! excited!! now i have ridden scooters and small bikes all year round in england in snow/wind/rain and sun and although -16 is the coldest and no where near what you guys get i was wondering if it would be possible to ride threw the sask winter?? i will be living in Weyburn (hopefully) and working in Estevan (Kramer the cat dealer) so is it doable?

cheers stuart
p.s any one who lives in Weyburn pm me please as im going this alone till i can afford to fly the misses and my two kids out :(

Ride thru a Saskatchewan winter? Fuck no! I have no idea how people even survive a Sask winter.....but then again their are some, ok one - see Bwokentoof, that seem to enjoy this type of punishment, so ya never know....

But seriously, it can get damn cold in Sask in the winter months, with 30 days or more hovering the -30 zone. Riding thru that would be difficult at best....and then there's the snow and black ice. Oh and it can get a bit windy out there too.

Good luck and welcome to Canada....

Not realistic on most days thru the heart of winter. That being said on days when the roads are ice free and you don't mind very cold with high wind chills then power to you. If you are trying to save $$ then I would recommend just getting a small fuel efficient car with a block heater (you will learn what that is when you get here) for the Dec-Feb period.

Ok thought that might be the answer but had to ask. I just like riding so the thought of only being able to ride for so many month of a year is a sad one :(.

thanks

Discover the joys of either a snowmobile, or a dirt bike with studded tires for winter fun. Either way you can still enjoy "riding" all year then. Also do yourself a favor and during the summer plan to explore Alberta and British Columbia on bike. We may have a short season but the places we have to ride are spectacular!

I was born in Estevan...moved away when I was 8, but still visited frequently. The weather there is no worse than any other spot in the prairies, in fact, Estevan is quite often the hottest spot in the nation throughout the summer. You will be very close to North and South Dakota, which have beautiful riding. As said, it is a must that you come a little further west and check out some of the areas here. Enjoy your stay in southern Sask You will soon be a Rider fan

Weyburn!!! Cold winters, hot summers! -30C is typical, -40C is probable.
There was a band from Kindersley Sask., their name, Showdown!!! Their one hit wonder song.... The Rodeo Song, goes like this, " it's 40 below, got a heater in my truck, I don't give a fuck and I'm off to the rodeo." And it only gets better from there.....
Enjoy Canada and welcome !!!

You're not going to make any friends if you keep misspelling the name of the town.

WEYBURN, Saskatchewan.
