opinions 650 ural

after driving up to mountain view this weekend with the wife.... we have decided we want a ural! i might have found one through a friend. its an early 2000s with over 50000 miles on the bike.... the price is right for it. should i be scared of bike having that many miles or would you think that if it was gonna break it would have?

I'm in the camp that says if it was going to break it would have. Check the service history first - make sure it hasn't been thrashed, oil changes have been done, etc, etc. Nothing beats good maintenance.

Miles? The odometer and tripmeter read in kilometres, you know.

Don`t worry about it.
Check out the owner as much as the Ural...ask pointed questions about how they`ve used it and serviced it.

My yr2000 650 has 44,000km on it and it`s a no worry,go anywhere daily user.

In fact I prefer using it to my yr2004 750 due to its addictive character and personality.....the 750 is mainly used for long 2 up holidays and my European trips as it`s a bit more 'long legged'.

But the 650 is ace and if I could only have one,it`d be the 650.

I'd only waste my money if I didn`t spend it on all my bikes......

A high mileage Ural is a well-sorted out Ural. Any big issues are likely to have revealed themselves by now.

50,000km would be 30,000 miles. I agree that if it were going to break, it would have. However, it should be priced accordingly because it will be increasingly harder to sell as the mileage goes up. Urals sell quick where I am though, I sold my Ural in a few days.

Hey jim, we were at the square on saturday.... however my own and my wifes nature caused us to get there later than we hoped lol. We saw a few bikes and we spoke to a few people. Then we headed over to the fairgrounds but didn't see many people there. I assume people were riding in that beautiful area. We spoke to a ural owner at the fairgrounds. He had the Orange camo 05 gear up. Everyone was really nice and the whole experience made me want a hack even more!
