This weekend was pure luck. And ADV hospitality at it's finest.

I gotta pm from Maximus_Flavius. Aaron. Who I had never met and who had never met me. Which led to this text stream.

Aaron: "I've got a place up near Graham. I'd like to help map your 'Red to the Rio. And Back.' project.http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=962304 I wanted to go to The Roll The Bones Rally (The Official Annual ADV Halloween Rally in my sig line.) but couldn't get away. I have 20 miles of perimeter fence roads. Y'all get together and pick a weekend to come up here. We can base camp at my place and cover all the dirt roads you need to look at."

Me: uhhhhhhhhh.....In. But you better set me some boundaries. Or this is gonna get real stoopid. Real quick. Just sayin'.

My wife: "You know. This is gonna end up as an episode of Criminal Minds or CSI, right? He's gonna gas y'all in your sleep and you're gonna wake up in cages."

Me: WTF? Hell. We're going anyway.

And so it begins..........

The driveway to camp. Sonofabitch. WooHoo!!

Camp was at the horizon. Or maybe past it. Sonofabitch.

TXJames and MoodyBlues.

We make it to camp through some sketchy sand sections. Always nice to have a fully loaded GS Adventure carrying a fully inflated zeppelin for that sand shit.

That's me diddling with the Zeppelin. Big Dave and Ghost towed their bikes up. On a trailer. You can mock them later. BTW, that's Big Dave. 6'8 315. Before lunch. Mock at your own risk. I just call him "Sir".

"Sonofabitch", "Jeez", and "You suck." became my entire verbal repertoire about an hour in. Koko the mountain gorilla had a larger vocabulary than I had this weekend. Oh, yeah. This is the view from our porch at the cabin. Sonofabitch.

MoodyBlues. 5 minutes in. "Hell. If this was my place, I'd weld the gate shut and you assholes would never see me again."

You suck.

Jeez.

Sonofabitch. TXJames on the left. smiley. Pizzaboy in the hipster bullshit knit cap. Aaron wearing some Aussie Outback or tarpon fishing cap. One of those. Pretty sure.

smiley made us some "Asshat Venison Chili". It was great. So was the firepit. Aaron is wearing a dead animal on his head. I think. I shied away. It was dark. I started thinking about Criminal Minds and "cages" a little. Ghost giving y'all a welcoming two handed ADV salute in a shitty iPhone pic.

Our ADV host. Aaron. Maximus_Flavius.

Aaron's bike. Hey. It's Texas. Just think of it as a big pistol.

As hard as it was to do, we left the ranch to do some exploring. Best road of the day? Macabee Road. This was the easiest part. A little sandy in spots but remote and beautiful.

Mudclod giving y'all the Goldwing Howdy wave.

BigDave , MoodyBlues, and Mud.

Mud wanted to cross this sketchy cable bridge thing. Mud is an idiot.

We'll mark it as a POI. We'll mark it with this.

Moody is getting it on the second best road of the day. Ghost said this dirt road was "endless". It was big. Headed to Fort Griffin.

Some history on the route. And I'm a bit of a history buff. That big structure is BigDave's 2004 GS Adv. Behind it is a house or someshit.

This was pretty cool. Kinda wish I woulda gotten off the bike to read it. I'd ask one of the other fellas what it said but I'm not sure any of them can read and I want to be sensitive.

I would like to know just how many miles that fucking endless road was...I figured I had to be close to New Mexico at the way I was running. After all the dead ends earlier I decided to open up and find out what we had so I was running 100 plus in places trying to see what we had. I started getting worried when I parked on the hill and and no one showed up for 30 minutes. I walked to the very top of the hill with my pocket binocs and saw nobody for miles in any direction. So I took a dump, walked back to the bike and had a Redbull and then I finally see James come over a hill in the distance. I knew that had been a skight left road but I took the one that appeared on my GPS to keep going. At least I had no dudt from the scouting position. That was lost once we started our last sortee south from Ft Griffin. Behind Smiley and JAmes I got my eyes full of red dust And then throw in having to dodge the Deputy looking back at the 2 when he turns and sees me...I can only imagine what he thought of a bunch of big bikes running 70 plus on a one lane road in BFE
