Chapel hill to Chicago

I am flying to North Carolina to pick up a bike and am going to ride it back
To Chicago .I need some suggestions on a route that will keep me off of the
Bore way as much as possible.I'm taking a week off of work so I have plenty
Of time to enjoy the ride. Thanks Fritz

Hit the Blueridge Parkway and ride all the way up through Skyline Drive in VA then to home - OR - NC to Tenn to hit the TAT through Arkansas then North to home.

I just knew whatever you had, you'd ride it right ! I've done both of the trips I suggested, and the "Snake", and all are good. BRP is more civilized , snake is short but fun ( and cops lie in wait) and the TAT is fun but not nearly so as it is west of ARK. Heck, anyway you slice it though you win.

When do you pick up the bike? I work in Durham and could buy you lunch and chat if you had time and the inclination

I am thinking toward the end of July, the inmate that I'm buying it from is a pilot
So his schedule is shall we say unique .I wouldn't do the TAT with this bike ,I have a Ktm 690R that is fully rallyized for just such occasions.
Thanks for the offer of lunch I will probably take you up on it . Fritz
