Best bike for Lafayette, Louisiana

Hey Guys,
I live in Jacksonville, Florida and may be relocating to Lafayette, la. The girl friend got a job at ULL. Anyway I just returned from a epic ride fron Jax to Panama.
I did it on a 2006 KLR 650, sold it in Panama and flew home.

- Anyway I was thinking about a Vstrom 650, but was wonderding what the locals explore on? It would be great to do some group rides or events to meet new people.

- So what bike do you recommend? I will be buying used

Search for swampscooters rally. I'd contact them. They host a great rally every year and should be able to point you in the right direction.

If you like mostly dirt roads, then a KLR or DR. Not much dirt around Laf. But you have some great offroading about an hour away in Kisatchie NF

Thanks Guys

I am in Lafayette now looking at rentals. I havent seen many motorcycles around. AT the moment I am between a DL- 650 ot a KLR -650

only because I feel if I need to do any amount of HWY miles the twin might be more forgiving.

I will reach out to the swamp group

Lotsa KLR650s around Lafayette. Most of the folks I know in the Swamp Scooters have them (and ride the hell out of them). Come to the meeting - Second Wednesday of the month at 7pm - Alesi's Restaurant.

Most common transportation in/around Lafayette is a pickup truck.
