Well my version of events is a bit different and entirely justifiable.

Chris did up a route which didn't take in my GPS. Luckily, I had a printed map to that I had given to the stunningly beautiful Christie. We were connected via bluetooth and she was giving me turn by turn directions.

At least until we came to the spot where I was to take the bridge. Their was a huge 'No Left turn' sign and the lane was blocked. But you COULD make a right turn from the opposite direction.

Being Magellan, I attempted to go up the road and turn around to attack from the sun. 'Cept the road immediately split off into a maze of one way streets under construction. Christie, who had the map gave up and said "Oh fuck it!" and tossed it over her shoulder.

Then, what followed was accurately described by 'Fitter.

Well until Jeff, being from Calgary, which as we know is the second center of the universe, promptly took the lead and made an immediate left turn into and underground parking garage.

How could you not want to follow me on the boogie! Imagine being the first one ever to cross the Ottawa River, without the benefit of a bridge or a boat!

Well that settles it, how can anyone not want to follow Bungie into the wilds of Calabogie. This is the true definition of adventure. Just make sure the batteries are charged on your SPOT and that you have your Passport for when Bungie hits the US border while trying to go north.
This might be the first Calabogie Boogie D/S that makes it to Alaska. With Bungie leading, all things are possible.

Damn straight and don`t ever forget it.

I`m going to fire an email off to Huron52 and see if he`s interested. It`d make a nice warm up for EOM 2 weeks later seeing how I`m gonna trailer the FJR down with Line.

Pre-riding for the event was cut a bit short last night as I had a front flat tire. Fortunately it was a slow leak and I was able to ride back slowly with just a few stops to add air. Turns out it was a folded tube that I didn't install properly so it would leak sometimes and the folds would keep it sealed other times. Get it right Terry!

We were riding on roads that will likely be the Saturday AM scenic loop (although it's a bit too short) so at least I wasn't in the rough stuff when the flat happened. Last time out they where putting gravel on top of my favourate dirt roads, this time they where putting dirt on what was a paved road last time I was on it. Very strange.

8 weeks to go...

I talked to Huron52 and mentioned the part about you leading. I could hear him break into a cold sweat over the phone.

Hey, Huron52 and I have ridden a lot of miles together. I'd suggest he lead but I'm unwilling to keep up when he does that.

Did you ever hear about the time heading out west (in which I led the entire way) I told him to lead? "I don't know the route" he says. We were on I90 in Montana at the time.. "Just follow your nose" I said.

We pull out of the gas station and he and FJRRob put the coals to it around FJR Nominal. I stopped the accelerometer at 100mph and they were pulling away from me.

No problem I thought, I let them run up ahead and play rabbit for me. Thinking they'd reel it back down after a few minutes.

Well a few minutes later I wick it up to about 120mph, with occasional forays into 130-140mph territory. Great fun. But I still couldn't catch a glimpse of them and my gas gauge was DIVING for empty.

Just as I slowed down thinking I need to conserve fuel I came up on a gas station with both of them sitting there grinning like assholes. Looked like they were there for more than a few minutes!

Anyway, haven't heard from Tom about Calabogie yet. Have a suggestion for accommodations?

There is camping available right at the golf course where the event starts from that is on a first come / first serve basis.
There is the Calabogie Motor Inn, Jacko's Beach Resort,
Calabogie Lodge Resort and Calabogie Peaks Resort to name some, all at different price points. Take your pick but don't dally, if there is an event at the race track accommodation fills up fast in Calabogie.

ok.ok.ok..... I'm here you can stop talking about me. I actually had to look on our calendars to see if that weekend was open. It is! My thought if there is primite camping I would bring my hauler down. It's about as roughing as I can get.
I did see the website but I may have missed .... It's a first come for camping...
How much room do they have?
How early can I come to camp?
How full was it last year?

If you make it by late afternoon on Friday you should have no problem finding a spot for the trailer.

I'm trying to figure out how I can get a few extra days vacation to do it this year.

Randy
Hey Randy...first off...want to let you know your old girl is running strong and keeping a smile on my face . Also, will be taking part in the trail ride of the Calabogie Boogie. Will have tires pumped up and tire irons prepped for this adventure. May see you out there

You should (if you haven't) sign up from the by town website. I did both days and the banquet saturday night.

There goes another weekend...

All signed up

Payment for two days and the banquet completed. Just need the leg to heal and we'll be all set.
