990adv with jesse cases - what exhaust are you guys running with them?

I have a conflict between the top front of the lower oval loop on my jesse racks and my Leo Vince mufflers. Im thinking having the racks pinned up against the front lower corners of my mufflers is not healthy...

Can anyone please:
1- tell me what mufflers you are using if you have jesse cases
2- post some pictures of that area of the jesse racks near your mufflers

I don't know I'd it's the shape of the Leo Vince, they're horizontal angle or the width at their entry points but my jesse racks need to be moved out about 3/4" per side to avoid this conflict and there's no easy way to do that.

What I've figured out is the Leo Vince seem to hang down lower at the front of the muffler body compared to stock mufflers (see first link versus second link): the Leo Vince use a mid-pipe that they come with rather than using flange mounts to the original mid pipe...I wonder if that has something to do with it. Unless anyone has any ideas, I'm either going to find someone who can modify my Jesse racks to clear the muffler corners, replace my mufflers with another brand or modify my Leo Bince mid pipe so they tuck in closer to the middle-line of the bike.

In these links, note that the OEM mufflers do not drop below that bottom corner of the side bosy panel. The Leo Vince seem to mount much lower; the exact area where the lower oval loop of the Jesse rack tucks in under the side body panel.

I run Leo's with my Jesse's. I did have to space them out a bit. I would be happy to take a few pic's and give you the lengths I used. It would be later in the day, getting ready to head out the door. I had the Leo's on my 08 990 and had to do the same thing.

I had forgot about this problem when I bought the Leo's for my new 2012 990. I did call Leo and Al Jesse about this issue. Both told me there products are fitted to stock bikes with stock equipment. I asked why not put a fitment note about this issue. But I guess that makes way to much sense.

I bought a piece of aluminum round stock off Ebay for $10. shipped and made my own spacers. I really like the Jesse's, and feel there is not a better side case out there. That said I really like the Leo's. They are priced right and build quality is very good.

I do have a machine shop at work, and used a lathe to make the spacers and painted them black. You would never notice the difference. I also removed the passenger pegs. I never ride two up and used spacers there with longer bolts.

Let me know if you want pic's and spacer size.

Remus Revolution 2-1

...Although I believe dual Revolutions should fit. Apparently 2-1 Remus Roxx won't fit with Jesses. I also understand there is a difference between new Jesse brackets and old Jesse brackets, though I don't know when the changeover happened. Mine were made in 2010.
If you go 2-1 for the left side space for aux fuel tank or toolbox, be careful. As far as I know, none of these will fit with Jesse brackets. I made my own:

In retrospect it was a lot of work. A smaller simple cylinder would have been less troublesome but I wanted to maximize the space available, and mimic the oval shape of the Remus on the other side.

There is also some info on that thread from the guy who had trouble fitting Roxx.

I miss the v-twin rumble that some dual pipes can give you ( I had stock pipes so any change is an improvement) but I wouldn't go back from 2-1....it even improved my ~4000 rpm "hunting" to an acceptable level, and I love that all my tools are on the bike all the time. ATTATT?

As posted in your other thread - I have Wings NOS on my 990 - they are close to the Jeese racks and if did need to rotate them a little to get them to fit. I would try some spacers before getting the racks changed.

Here's the spacers that I used.

A large washer 1/8" thick on the top mount.



.500 or 1/2" on both sides of the rear loop.



Passenger peg right front .700
Passenger peg right rear 1.565



Passenger peg left side rear .800
I modified the left side front because my boot would catch on it. Keep in mind I wear a 14 boot. Need to get a button head for the front bolt.



You will have to use longer bolts, just add the spacer length to the bolt length. I like the button head, just less to rub on your boot.

Also, the spacers would not be that long if you run the passenger pegs, I just have them removed.

Thank you - this is very helpful. I want to see what I can do to modify the jesse racks so I don't have to add width - I don't want to risk getting my feet caught in stuff either... Given that I don't plan to use the front section of the jesse rack loops and generally keep my panniers at the back, I may just modify the front area of those loops if I can do it cleanly without compromising strength, etc. though the spacers/shims seems to be the path of least resistance...

wings with Jesses no problems

I have a set of Wings and Jesse panniers - no fit problems with good clearance everywhere. Very happy with both.

I am not at home and the moment and hence have no access to the bike, so no photos unfortunately.

I have no doubt that those FMFs are no problem - they're a very narrow oval, less width than even the original round KTM cannons.

Thank you everyone for your input and help. I've managed to space the rack out less than 1/2" per side after tucking my Leo Vince mufflers in more diligently. I'm all sorted out and didn't have to modify any of the Jesse racks.
