Nice stuff JM. I like the look of those dirt roads. You need a bit of water in those waterfalls though......

Toolangi State Forest

16th August 2013.

A windy day but the sun was shining..

Start km's:

Emerald to Healesville.

Gembrook valley views.

Gembrook - Launching Place Rd.

Healesville to Toolangi State Forest and back to Healesville.

View through the Yarra Valley.

Looking back at the township of Woori Yallock.

The road ahead.

Healesville - Kinglake Rd.

The turnoff from Myers Creek Rd to Sylvia Creek Rd.

Sylvia Creek Rd.

Stopped here until a bus load of school kids arrived to shatter the serenity..

Hardy Creek Rd turnoff.

A few metres down the road, I saw these guys watching me from nearby.

An adult and juvenile Kookaburra.

Back to the road..

Fun roads.

Monda Rd turnoff.

Monda Rd.

Hit Myers Creek Rd again on the way back to Healesville for lunch and took a side trip to Donnelly Weir picnic area.

Water crossing!

From the other side.

Unfortunately, the picnic area itself was uninspiring and unworthy of a pic..

Stopped at the bridge on the way back into Healesville.

Had lunch at the Beechworth Bakery in Healesville.

Mmmmm..

Adventure latte..

Healesville to Launching Place.

Don Rd.

Launching Place to Emerald.

End km's.

Total km's.

Another fun day ride exploring the forest roads around outer Eastern Melbourne.

Cheers,

JM.

Yeah, it aint getting any warmer any time soon..

Weather has been cold and miserable making it hard to get out for rides.

Wind was so bad last night that it knocked out the power in a bunch of places.

Roll on Summer..

Cheers,

JM.

Still not takin' any chances on a smile killin', eh?
Thanks for the reports and great photos.
I'm going to spend a couple of weekends following along some of the gravel roads you've used on these rides, there's good looking riding on most of those.
Roll on springtime!

Hey, any day you get to go for a ride is a good day, huh

There are lots of places I want to go up around Alexandra, Yea and Broadford.

Hopefully I can get one of those rare days off together with Mrs Tiger and get some more interesting pics of our travels.

I find that the Rooftop maps offer really good detail about trails that are overlooked by other maps.

Thanks for reading!

Cheers,

JM.

Hahahaha, yeah no chance!

Roll on Springtime indeed.

The wind is killing me at the moment!

Not fun commuting on the bike every day

See the above reply re: Rooftop maps if you wanna explore out this way.

Thanks for reading.

Cheers,

JM.

Same crossing...the picnic area looked lots better before the "make-over".

Great pics from some unusual spots.

Narbethong - 7th September 2013

Yeah, okay..

So anyone reading will quickly realise that this is much the same route as my last ride.

This time, however, Mrs Tiger was able to accompany me for the chance to explore a bit more in the area.

This means more pics from the road, rather than just pics of a bike with slightly different backgrounds

Emerald - Yellingbo.

Yellingbo - Dixons Creek.

Morning tea at the Dixons Creek Cafe Bar & Grill

ADV salute..

Dixons Creek - Myers Creek Rd.

Myers Creek Rd - Murrundindi Scenic Reserve.

Wirrawilla Rainforest Walk.

LAst time I stopped here, a bus load of screaming kids arrived shortly afterwards.. This time, there was only a bunch of folks doing Tai Chi, enjoying the serenity..

Back on the road..

Murrundindi Rd.

The Murrindindi Scenic Reserve has some great camping spots I'm keen to check out on a future visit.

Shhh...

Camp site.

Murrundindi River alongside the road.

Murrundindi Scenic Reserve - Narbethong.

Falls Creek Rd.

Takes more selfies than Rudd..

Lost..

Black Ridge Rd.

Crazy wombat balancing on two legs

The realisation that the road is juuust off the edge of the map..

Distant views.

Plantation Rd.

Narbethong - Emerald via the Black Spur and Don Rd.

Maroondah Hwy, Narbethong.

Must have been making time over the Black Spur judging by the blurry 'action' pics..

Actually got a clear run on a Saturday!

Don Rd.

Avon Rd, Cockatoo.

Got rained on here, 5 minutes from home..

A great ride, expanding a bit on my last visit to the area.

Enjoyed the fine weather until the last few km's..

There's still lots of other tracks the explore in the Toolangi State Forest.

..might even take the tent next time

Thanks for reading.

Cheers,

JM.

Bunyip State Park - 8th September 2013

This is going to be another one of those 'bike + background' type reports..

Route for the day:

Start km's:

Stopped in at the Lilydale General for morning tea with Mrs Tiger who was working today

Awesome food. Well worth a visit if you're in the area..

Went via Silvan and Yellingbo to Beenak Rd.

Entering Kurth Kiln Park.

Made a loop through Kurth kiln and Bunyip State Parks.

View along the power lines from Hunters Rd.

Might not look it in the photo, but that is waaay too steep and washed out for the Tiger (and it's pilot!).

Looking back on Hunters Rd.

Navigation.

Further along Hunters Rd looking back at where I crossed under the powerlines a couple of km's earlier.

That's where I took the first pic from.

This could have been a problem.

Just as I was taking this pic:

..this bloke on a KTM 690 turned up!

The only other vehicle I had seen until now.

We talked bikes for about 30 minutes while I admired his ride.

Looking back on Hunters Rd from East Beenak Rd.

A bit more gnarly than I'm used to, but fun.

Another powerlines pic.

As if the bloke on the 690 wasn't bad enough, I came across a guy on a brand new KTM 1190 Adventure R!

In a way it made my day, coz this is the bike that I REALLY want (The Triumph belongs to Mrs Tiger - I am... 'between' bikes) and there are so few of them available for sale that until today I hadn't seen one in the wild.

Of course, it was all made worse by the fact that of the 19 bikes this guy has owned in his life, he said this was better by far than anything he had ever owned previously.

To top it off, he even had the helmet I want!!

Ash Landing Rd/Towt Rd.

Towt Rd.

Looking back at the park entrance.

Blasted home via Tonimbuk on Gembrook Rd.

End km's.

Total km's for the day: 145.

Got home and sulked and muttered to myself for a while over not being able to own an 1190 like right now, dammit!!

In all, a good day out.

Roads were mostly smooth and dry and the weather was fine.

Got to roadtest my new riding gear and explore some places not yet visited

Thanks for reading.

Cheers,

JM.

Arrrgh, I feel your pain JM.
Went out today with the Disgraceful old Ulyssians and there was some inconsiderate mongrel out flaunting his new WetHead 1200GS. I had to go way down the back of the group out of sight of it, it was upsetting me that much.
Oh well, keep on with the savings plan and keep riding & posting!
