Need help planning trip in 2014

Hey folks I'm from Little Rock, Arkansas and am working on planning a trip on my DR650 to North Carolina in 2014 possibly April or May. I was thinking about riding to Chattanooga and beginning my assault on the Smokies from there. I'm looking for any information or suggestions on when is a good time of year to go, good dirt roads, camping spots, and neat roads or places in between Little Rock and Chattanooga.
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks in advance

Use Telico Plains TN as a base. Talk with Mike at Telico Plains Motorcycle Outfitters he is in the vendor section on the site. He can provide maps and advice for 3 to 4 days of great riding. Telico has one of the best bakery's in the USA and call Walt at the lodge 423-253-2506. Go any time late March -Dec. Why wait until 2014?????
