Dunno about gel pads but have a look at the Airhawk range of inflatable seat pads.

Recently found this company. Saw them at a motorcycle show.

https://www.propoly.ca/

Planning on buying some and tearing apart my sh150i seat, putting some of this in, and then reupholstering it. Should be good for longer trips at that point.

Airhawk. A bunch of them available on Amazon. Not cheap, but an example of getting what you pay for.

Gel pads run 40 to 50 bucks for Raw pad . if you google making a custom motorcycle seat you ll find the site that shows you how to DIY. Not that hard just a staple gun and a sharp knife to cut out away the stock foam to insert it . You may be better off with a sheep skin or wood bead cover like you see on cars seats. They work because the whole point is to take away pressure points which is what cause numb bum .

No question IMO the best but not the cheapest choice. Infinitely adjustable they allow for some long days in the saddle. I use ROHO products on everything my ass touches.

Thanks fellas for the suggestions...I did look into Airhawk however it would raise the seat height too tall for me as I am barely touching the ground at stock seat height. I will look into the sheepskin option.

Your best option if that is the case may be lowering the seat . The guys on Total ruckus forum are tops with this knowlege. Also rebuilding seat Maybe be the way to go with taking out stock foam and lowering it wtih less foam but denser which means you dont end up with numb bumb. http://www.diymotorcycleseat.com/
