OK so maybe for the 5 de Mayo festivities HOnda will announce that bikes not sold in Mexico are now available in the USA? LOL!!! why not, already the US (California at least) celebrates this Mexican holiday a lot more than Mexico...so why not?

I also have a 1983 Honda C90 in my garage.
Performance wise, the C90 engine is just doesn't have as much torque, nor top speed as the Chinese clone. 9v vs 12v electrical system.

The Chinese Super Cub clone was a 2011 leftover model that I bought from NJ shore dealer in May 2013, advertised for $899, I paid $750 cash OTD, came with Certificate of Origin, no problem registering in PA, nor can I imagine any problem in any other 49 states.
It had been sitting at the dealer for over a year, since it is over 50cc that require a moto license to operate, not a big seller among the shore.

The BMS Bi-Metro 110cc scoots can still be found online, about $1300-1600 to purchase new, w/free delivery to your driveway. Shouldn't have any problem registering them for street usage.

I must say that the white one is looking good. I thought the black one was a looker at first but the white one looks more elegant, if one of these could be referred to as that.

I agree! The white one looks classier. I almost bought 2 white ones but I thought it would be nice to have the 2 available colors. If I ever change my mind, it shouldn't be too hard to get the other set of plastics.

Weather wasn't so good in San Antonio today so instead of riding, I did some shopping online and splurged a bit.

I got me a nice Honda shirt:

A cool retro Honda helmet:

And 2 matching top boxes for the Super Cubs. One white one and one black one. Both are genuine Honda accessories.

All this is coming straight from Japan. I paid using Paypal. I can't wait!

My top boxes have shipped! They were out of the Honda helmet I wanted though. It's regular mail. Not sure how long it will take but I have a tracking number to keep me informed.

Quick update: I gassed up at lunch. I put 0.65 gal in the Super Cub. It's the white (the one my wife has been riding except for today and one other short run). Anyway, it came out to 121 mpg. Not bad! I don't think mine will do quite as well but it shouldn't be too far off. Oh and I spent just over $2.00 for almost 80 miles.

The Grom and the Super Cub have similar top speeds though it is easier to get above 50 mph with the Super Cub. Both struggle on hills.

The Super Cub is an every day bike but the Grom is more of a weekend/ fun ride type of bike. Given the choice, I'd take a Super Cub every day. Yes, I truly enjoyed the Grom but I am much happier with the Super Cub. I can't wait to add a top box for even more practicality.

I could see myself go on longer trips on the Super Cub when there's no way I'd consider doing that on the Grom. The wife and I went to a scooter rally in Austin last Fall - it was 200 miles round trip. I so loved the attention I got on the Grom but my ass was killing me. And size wise, it really is small for someone my height (6 foot tall).

Ok, I just gassed mine (the black one) and got 105 mpg. I'm a little disappointed but then again I've been riding it really fast.
