Thanks for the update. I will be interested in the all up price as I have gained enough brownies for a serious look. I would like to see a comparison between what you are doing, the Shiver mod, Racetech and Ohlins nix30. price and performance.

re prices (to Australia, in Australian dollars, as at 'now'.. )

Traxxon : $1630
Racetech : $1850
Ohlins : Over $2k (estimate $2215)

Shiver... dunno... but just postage for forks return to USA would be about $820...

The shiver conversion is probably the cheapest, but more difficult, fork upgrade. It could be the most versatile option because the internals being used are fairly common and most suspension shops can rebuild/revalve the internals being used. It's more difficult because you have to find new forks, find a shop to machine your forks, and re-assemble it all. Konflict does the same thing, but for more $$ that it would cost you to do yourself.

My conversions costed about $440.. $160 for forks, $140 for springs, $120 for machining, and $20 for oil and other misc parts.

I am not sure if race tech, traxxion or ohlins can be worked on by other shops or if they would have to be sent into their shop for work.

Performance has been phenominal even without a revalve.

thanks for the cost re the shivers.. thats about $500 Australian.. the other 'problem' with the shivered option (at least in Oz), is finding those forks over here seems just about imposible.. i guess some from the US would be possible, but that would add around $415 Australian in postage... bringing the shiverd option to around $915 Australian...

dead right

Spot on with the price and email from Dan. I am about to sidle up to the kitchen sink, offer to do the dishes, pour a soothing drink, cook dinner then drop the hint to The Boss

Hmmmmm

No tracking number isn't good. If I go ahead ( which I have permission from "she who must be obeyed") I will insist on tracking number. I have had gear from the US before and about 7 to 10 days is all it takes. Hope all is well with your order and I will be watching this thread.

yeah well, we at least know the company exists! I'm just assuming they're one of those companies that get your money n send your stuff...and think there is no need to 'waste time' talkin any more
(got the 'paypal' guarantee on my side still... not that i'm thinkin it will get to that...)

but yeah... maybe hold off the order till mine arrive
(even if its just to know what happens when you break the $1000 import limit for GST etc )

bugger

I forgot about that gst on over $1000 imports. That could jack the price close to the Racetech mods. I will be waiting for you to receive yours. maybe I could get them to split the package and postage to bring it under $1000.

My AK20's are still working terrific after two years.....no further adjustments.

My oil level is set in the 90 - 95mm range (from top). I forget; it's been too long. Got it written down somewhere. Just know I had to use more oil than Traxxion recommended to stop it from bottoming out (metal on metal) when jumping.

Make sure you've got the "Indy Mod" on your rear shock mount! You're gonna need it for the faster rough riding you will likely be enjoying which better forks will permit. Better go ahead and put an Ohlins shock on the rear, while you're at it.
