Thanks for tuning in and chiming in.

Now, where were we? Oh yes, Solvang

http://www.motosolvang.com/

The motorcycles in the museum are from the private collection of Virgil Elings. He has been collecting motorcycles for 2 decades. The collection is quite broad with something for everyone, ranging from a 1910 FN to the present, and across all makes. The emphasis is tilted toward racing motorcycles since Virgil and his son Jeff were involved in vintage motorcycle racing, both motocross and road racing.

The Solvang Vintage Motorcycle Museum is an easy day ride out of Los Angeles, through the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley.

The museum is located in the former Solvang Designer Outlet Center now owned by Dr. Elings. You can find us in the former Brooks Brothers store (maple floor and all).

The museum rotates some of the bikes each month so that the bikes on display are constantly changing and expanding.

What a great little display of unique bikes! Lots of these bikes I had no idea even existed, Rotary Engine Suzukis? Really?! Guess I have lived sheltered from such ideas

Here is the crown jewel of the museum or at least the most expensive according to the guy at the desk that day..the 1940 Crocker

Never did get a picture of the whole bike fail

Really like the back story on this one

A pleasant surprise for a Sunday. Luv motorcycle museum. I was in France a few years ago and with a co-worker. We had a day off and I was driving. I told him I would go anywhere but had to go to this Velo Moto Museum on a brochure I picked p in the hotel. Cool pace. This pedal cycle has two drives and shows the engagement dogs for shifting.
From 1869

Here is a 1905 Antoine. The same year as the FN 4 cylinder.

Was over on your coast last week. But up farther North. I went though Mojave. It rained and stayed in the nineties Monday. Cloudy and also cool Tuesday. Unbelievable. Then back over a hundred. But a dry heat. Stopped at Indian Wells and picked up a few brews to take home. If you get up that way Bernardo's Restaurant is good.

So, what's up with me lately? Well, I got me a new brain bucket

itch, itch, itch

Need some altitude to help with this attitude

Like a fiend I itch to get away, took a day off, kissed mama and baby Friday morning with a see ya Sunday good bye

Packing takes all of 20 minutes now, as I am getting really sure of what I need and what I don't. Things go in the same place every time now too, but that may change with a new sleeping bag for this winter

All packed and ready for adventure

Shout out to Ron and JJ at www.lostforareason.org

Good guys, great cause....get your swag, gear and give back all in few mouse clicks

Plan was loose, as always, it involved a destination and a general idea of how to get there...one I wanted to get up into Kennedy Meadows area to explore and two I wanted to take Rancheria Road versus Kern River Valley to Sherman Pass and then up and over..but other than that I had no reservations...just the way I like it

Of course...why not take 33 out of town and hit some along the way to Central Valley

New Lid's maiden voyage

some quatal canyon to hudson ranch road

pretty views of a very unique landscape

almost stayed up here at Valle Vista camp and explored some skinny trails I haven't been on yet

it's certainly pretty enough up here

but my goal of Sequoia NF for the night is another 200 miles away, so down into Maricopa

Kilpstein Canyon

166, flat, hot, like a hairdryer in your face....just get through it
