On my 12 SMT 990 as well as the older 990 Adv. you can make or buy a simple cable that plugs into the bike that allows you to tune the bike with free software program called TuneECU. You can change all sorts of settings as well as maps.
I believe the new 1190 has the same plug but I don't know if anyone knows if it will work on the new bikes yet cause of the canbus system.

Direct from Wings. WINGS mufflers with dB-killers mounted (either small or large) - no need to remap (including the new 1190 Adventure)

WINGS mufflers (690, 950/990) without dB-killers mounted - you should remap using the Akrapovic-KTM map

except on 1190 Adventure where catalitic converter remains in the system when only muffler is changed and you don't need to remap.

For all parameters needed for the EFI to calculate the adequate gasoline/air mixture the sensors remain.

One of the advantages of EFI is the constant mixture ratio even when conditions changes (driving on a top of a mountain where the air is thinner....).

Best regards,

Wings

I did notice there are no maps listed for 1190adv... Is it a matter of not listed yet, or it truly isn't compatible due to canbus?

Is there no ktm map for full system available, even from the dealer?

Slip-on and keeping the cat makes no sense to me except for poseur factor. ;)

I mean seriously it will be louder and need repacking even more frequently with the heat from the cat with no real functional improvement.

I personally didn't do it for the performance. I did it to get rid of 10 lbs of big ugly stainless steel hanging off the side of the bike and to eliminate some of the heat from the stock can.
Oh and HELL YES I did it for the looks. Look at this bike for Christ sake, it deserves it.

Im asking for clarification regarding tuneecu being a non starter vs just not ready yet. Hard to tell if info was speculation, or informed factual information. Installing headers (removing cat) and running it with stock map is a poor idea, unless you have installed wideband sensors and verified AFR is safe throughout rev range. I just don't see how this is possible. Yes it will run. Yes you will burn exhaust valves. The engine mapping and throttle response will not be ideal.

The RC8R has full canbus and tuneecu works just fine.

Then you better put that stock muffler back on or else you will burn the exhaust valves.

I apologize if I have stepped on toes with the tone of my posts, but the engine will be too lean with headers and stock tune.

I am not looking to explain how all the variables play together if it isn't understood, just interested if TuneECU is a future option for the 1190ADV.

I have a RC8R on which I installed aftermarket exhaust which removed the cat. I did the 15 minute reset and it seems to run fine. I have not had it dyno check but it doesn't seem to be far off in terms of mixture. I assume the 15 minute reset would also work on the 1190. The steps for the reset-- engine cold, throttle closed, start, do not touch throttle, let idle for 15 minutes, shut off engine.

Under seat option?

Is there a reason that an under seat option wouldn't work? It would be nice to be able to tuck the can in so that pannier racks wouldn't have to be off-set on the exhaust side.
