alternatives

I'm still searching for a reasonably priced alternative that will fit the pannier rack for the remus exhaust.

Does anyone have the dimensions of the remus exhaust? I found a custom shop that can make something for around $400 but I need the size.

Thanks.

I've been researching the exhaust options for the 1190 and there seems to be quite a few out there already. I didn't want to spend over a grand for the Akra, or even 900 something for the wings.
I took the plunge and ordered a pipe from Barrett Exhaust in Australia. After emailing the kind folks there, and asking questions about the noise level and such, I had them send me one. It was 493 bucks, shipped to the USA. Delivered in a little over a week.

It bolted right up in about 2 minutes and fit perfectly. I didn't weigh them, but the Barrett is considerably lighter than the lead stocker.
And for the important part.... It sounds AWESOME. I was worried it would be too loud and it is not. It isn't so loud to where I'd be afraid to cruise around town at night and wake up neighbors, but it really barks when you let it rip. Going down the road is a pleasure, the volume is perfect. The wind noise is still louder than the exhaust. Also included is an optional DB killer which chokes down the exit tip. I didn't try it yet, and doubt I will.
I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

Email Gorazd in Slovenia directly (Wings owner)
I paid about $730 shipped to me in the states. Shipped on the 18th received on the 20th. Look back a page to post #236. Email is on there.

PowerCommander V is tentatively scheduled to be ready in May for 1190ADV.

I am curious if anyone is working on TuneECU option. It has been said that canbus is why TuneECU wont work, but that isn't true since the RC8R is canbus too. However the RC8R doesn't have all the MSC goodies that significantly complicate things. Perhaps the traction control code is too closely linked with the ignition and fuel tables to make simple remapping possible, in which case piggy-back may be the only option, IDK.

It does seem strange that the bike has been out for over a year and still no viable tuning option is ready.

That's because it really doesn't need one.
