Moto Boot Sizing

I'm currently looking for boots, and unfortunately don't have the ability to go try any on right now. I wear a 11.5 US, which is a 45 euro according to every normal sizing chart I can find online. Every time I buy a euro brand shoe I buy a 45 and it fits great. But looking at moto boots, every size chart seems to have 46 as 11.5, and all the for sale posts in the flea market seem to list them this way. So now I'm thoroughly confused! WTF is going on with boot sizing? Is it really different from every other type of shoes?

Alpinestars 46 fit my 11.5 feet perfectly. I think the main variance in boots is width and shape. I can't find a Sidi that's comfortable, but I think the lengths are similar.

I normally wear a size U.S. 11 After trying the Sidi Canyon boot in both size 45 (stated on the box and boot to equal a U.S. 11) and size 46 (Stated to be 11.5), I ended up with the size 45. These are quite narrow boots and there is no extra room for length; I have to wear rather thin socks with them. I believe that if one is a U.S. size11.5, a Euro 46 will be required, at least in Sidi boots.

Thanks for the replies guys. Sounds like I do need a 46.

Now I just wonder why they do their sizing differently from everyone else!

I tried several boots on while I was in the market. Watch out for one size not holding true for different models within the same brand.
I also found many boots don't have half sizes from US 11 on up. I needed a 11 1/2, so I wound up going with 12 & a thick insole.
