xl 600 twin to single carb conversion

Hi guys

ive started a honda cr project as i want to make a reliable daily supermoto using a honda xl600 engine

i have the engine mock fitted in my frame and im currently doing a dry build to see how everything fits before i spend any more money on a project that may not work.

the biggist problem i have at the moment is carb space, its very hard to fit the twin carbs as there just isnt enough space for two carbs but i may be able to make one carb work.

Ive heard its possible to do a single carb conversion using stock xr650 parts but this is an expensive way to do it, as i will need to buy a single carb head.

is there any way to convert my twin carbs to single without buying a new head?

thanks

heres the project

I've seen Y shaped 1 into 2 manifolds. You need somebody creative that welds aluminum.

I think the early ATK/XR frame kits had some kind of port adapter to use a single carb. I've never seen one of these bikes in person and all the photos I could find didn't have enough details to confirm this.

If true, then you might want to look at these hybrids for inspiration in making a custom piece.

Lose the Twins, lose the power

take the second carb off and plug the manifold with something Nvm its a big ass bar in the way. I think you're gonna have trouble fitting anything in that tight space
