Seeing as I still have new tkc's on the GS left over from the Trophy Challenge, I am thinking of doing a nasty ride Saturday on the big pig. Wayne whats the nastiest / toughest loop you can think of?

The Dictum Ridge/ Second Mnt ATV trail is supposed to be pretty nasty but I've never done it. PSUcanary told us last year that the FS has installed a gate(closed) on Dictum Ridge. Maybe someone else can chime in this.

Probably the nastiest/toughest that I've done would have to include Union Springs/Slate Springs Rd., Dunkle Hollow Rd., Toms Park Ln., and Rough Run Rd. Let me work on looping them together.

Anybody know if Hall Spring Rd. will be open that weekend?

I figured these where the best.... Union Springs/Slate Springs Rd., Dunkle Hollow Rd., Toms Park Ln., and Rough Run Rd

Rough Run is a good big bike ride, not sure I have ridden Dunkle or the others. Are they on the shen500? Does Dunkle lead up to flag pole knob?

Wayne, Dictum Ridge was open from Long Run on Labor Day weekend.

Edit: sorry, the gate was open where Long Run hits 2nd Mountain... didn't ride it down to Dictum

The first alternate typically takes Union Spring up to where it intersects Dunkle Hollow and then by flagpole knob.

Dunkle would be no trouble for you on the big GS Andrew. It's a much easier road than Union Springs. I think the correct question is can Union Springs be done on a 1200? That I've never done (and personally wouldn't be confident in doing). But I know someone who has done it on a fully loaded 1200.

I didn't think the ledgey part that everyone has a problem with on Union Springs was that bad. I thought the rocky, steep uphill sections were worse. From what I've heard, Dictum and Second Mnt are much tougher.

I've got a route that we did Memorial Day weekend and was thinking I'd do Saturday at BWDR that includes Vepco, Toms Park, a couple of roads west of Bergton in to WV, lunch in Brandywine, West Side, Rough Run, and Hall Spring if it's open, but not Union Springs and Dunkle. They could be added but it's a pretty long route as it is and it would mean running Union Springs downhill. I'm not sure I want to do Union Springs downhill.

Hall Spring should be open by Oct. 1.

Nothing really too tough on Second Mtn trail , it's the Dictum Ridge ATV trail that has the steep single track with ledges, rocks, roots, and DR650 parts.
