Snail Trail adventure ride Sun 21st July 2013 Bris, Dayboro, Mt Mee, Wamuran

SNAIL TRAIL ADVENTURE RIDE
BRISBANE DAYBORO, MT MEE, GLASSHOUSE, WAMURAN
SUNDAY 21ST JULY 2013

TWO STARTING POINTS
LIVE IN BRIS? WANT TO DO BACK ROADS OUT TO DAYBORO?
Meet at the BP servo at Ferny Grove here at 7.30am for 7.45am departure. Advise if you want to do this! If there are no takers I'll just bypass this spot.

NORTH OF BRIS? MEET AT DAYBORO
Meet 8.30am for 9.00am start at Dayboro bakery here.

Before coming on any Snail Trail ride ride you must read and agree to the disclaimer here. These are informal social rides with no central organiser or any person taking responsibility for others, and you come on these rides at your risk. You'll need a backup plan for any breakdowns, make sure someone can collect you and/or your bike if needed and bring at least a basic toolkit.

Please read about our corner-making system and general guidelines for the ride here, and a general guide to safety gear here.

Tried to do this ride twice lately but weather got in the way and changed the route to suit southsiders. Fingers crossed it comes together this time! Wet weather is meant to fine up by Sunday, check this thread before leaving to confirm it's all still on.

Suit adventure noobs, all easy dirt roads. Probably handy if you have some dirt road experience, or just take it easy in parts of Mt Mee on the tight corners and gravel - steep drop offs on the side so you need to take it easy. if it has rained there are a few spots the main road can be a bit muddy so take it easy if you don't have knobbies. If we have no dirt noobs at all I'll throw in some level 2 stuff if everyone wants it.

From Dayboro we'll take Laceys Creek Rd to the bottom of Mt Mee, ride all the way through and out to Woodford for lunch. If we've made good time, might have a quick squirt through Glasshouse Mountains, then back through Wamuran Basin. Back mid arvo if there all goes to plan.

as per first post, "Back mid arvo if it all goes to plan". using some complex equations that sounds like about six hours. if anyone wants to get home earlier though they can just skip lunch at woodford and slab home.

OFB, do you want me to work in some freestyle jumps with the route given your antics last ride? with the usual barb wire fence and mud hole to land in?

wasca, bloody hell let's compare diaries for 2014 and see if we can work something out.

Vstrom?

Hi, is this suitable for my DL650 VStrom? I have 50/50 tyres on bike (Heidenau K60 on the front, Anakee II on the rear).

Thanks,
Mike

How about a double loop, followed by a half rotation and landing on the helmet to perform an inverted piroette

Small chance I may see you chaps on the trails Sunday. If I can free up my day, I'll be in there for some dirt action.
Might pop into the bakery and say hi.

B1, I'm assuming A Break and the rest of the good stuff is open? Didn't see any alerts on DERM.

Mike, It's hard for anyone to say whether a ride suits you. It depends very much on individual skill levels. I've seen guys on huge bikes waxing the arse of guys on 2 stroke dirt bikes. Personally, I would not take a big bike in there after rain on dual sport tyres, but everyone knows I'm a bit of a 10psi knobby fan.

I just got my 650 Transalp back from the smash repair guys, and I am keen for a shake down ride to make sure all is good with the old girl, you will be right in there Mike, Mt Mee is like a dirt highway at the moment should be a few big bikes.
