I believe that she is on the new 450 Rally though - but not sure if it's the only one outside the HRC team?

This years entry list reads like the who is who in Rally. Its amazing but the almost all of the first 50 bikes are professional racers. What an amazing lineup.

Most notably absent is Kurt from the list and Brodovich from this thread.

Mind you, Cyril could get the rules changes yet !
To answer my own question and unless TSC is going to penalise me there are some distance details up also - http://www.dakar.com/dakar/2014/docs/parcours-km-UK.pdf

Day 1 short 629 km liaison followed by a 180 km special, so not too much time for major moves on start positions

He said it will not be on Yamaha... He said he was tired of developing a motorcycle and wanted to be able to focus on the race and not have to worry about developing the bike... Sure sounds like it would make sense for it to be KTM. He is talking about an press conference on the 20th to talk about the bike...

Oops... it had already been answered... penalties are starting to pile up even before the start of the race

unfortunately Rod had to pull out, he didn't get enough budget together in time. Shane is using Rod's 2013 Dakar bike and is getting assistance with the same team Rod used this year.

Naturally, KTM's number of victories will be directly challenged by Yamaha, whose YZF 450 already showed its pace last year. The five-time winner of the race has taken on the development of the machine during the year, and sets off on a challenge in the style of Valentino Rossi: To try and win a title after changing team. The official Honda team, which had its learning curve in the 2013 Dakar, has also pushed out the boat in its recruitment in its attempt to chase victory: with Helder Rodrigues, it can now count on the ambition of world champion Paolo Gonçalves and the proven speed of Joan Barreda.
