I'm heading up to hit some jeep trails in the area tomorrow. Anyone up for a ride?

Anybody up for some jeep/atv trails this saturday?
Rumor on the interweb has it that most of the FS roads and oficial OHV areas are closed (not an atempt to influence voters) due to the government shut down, so it's probably best to plan on riding unoficial OHV areas.
There are a few different places I would like to check out, with verying levels of dificulty.

I'd like to go, but I've got to get my wife's bike plate-able. It'll be a wrenching-not-riding weekend for me.

Looks pretty good. Now you can go into gnarly trails by yourself and the chopper with the search and rescue party can find you

looks like I missed a good one. I'll have to get you to show me that place some time.

I spent most of the day getting to this point:

I hope to do it later on a bike better suited to the terrain. The DL is up for sale. I'll ask later the story behind the bent shifter

some times the most anassuming trails can be the most treacherous.
this tall grass hid deep ruts and large rocks.

the left side of my skid plate bounced off one of those large rocks/small boulders (it was quite the jolt) and deflected it into my shift lever. I just kicked the lever back straight and rode on.
without a skid plate I would have busted the engine case and walked out.

Hey Stretch! You should share your story about your headlight fail that I read about on Carolina riders.Pretty slick! Someone else may find that usefull! I would have been calling Tammy to bring the truck before I would have thought of that.
