If you change the title to Monday morning fuck-up thread . . . , I think it will go.

Shit.....I'm trying to curb my swearing habit. Maybe it should just be titled "What did hardwaregrrl fuck up today". I swear this job is cursed. The bumper in my floor stapler gave up

Bits if it all over the floor. No bumper, no air in the chamber.

60 mile round trip in Atlanta lunch traffic, and I've got my parts!! Just fixed the stapler. On a brighter note, the floor looks much better

Monday morning bummer...

Why you should ALWAYS leave an expansion gap for wood floors.

Here's the half of the house I did 6 months ago...

 photo null_zps14347a6f.jpg

You can see the "cupping" on each board. And now, I've discovered the reason.

 photo null_zpsac5fc2a2.jpg

Although impressive, there is no gap between the floors and the base and as humidity rises, so does the width of the wood. Fuckin' asshole that installed this floor will DIE if I ever meet him. Ripping up the baseboards and going ballistic with a 15# mallet and the finish nailer tomorrow. I feel bad for my customer.

This gives an idea as to how wavy the floor is, this is after I ran the big machine one pass over the floor.

 photo null_zpsc03acbef.jpg

And tight against the shower pan....had to remove the last line. Acclimate the wood, backfilling and leaving a gap have to be done prior to installing any wood floor....even engineered. Take note. Bummer.

Dipshit. It's easier to leave a gap, assuming some other dipshit didn't run the baseboards too low. Trim isn't to make things pretty, it's to cover rough stuff.

I've never replaced a waterpump on a BMC - we always fitted a kit, bearing and impeller. Young mechanics these days wouldn't know how to do that...mind you, when I was a young mechanic doing waterpump kits the old farts used to talk about adjusting waterpumps with water pump pliers. I was just too young to know....

My monday morning fuckup was hitting no traffic on the way to work and getting there 15 minutes early!

Trim was existing when the floor went in.....homeowner told me it was a family operation 3 generations....."Hey, you.....get out of the gene pool!" If nothing else, she'll gain 3/4" in base height.
