Off roading near Beckley, WV?

My brother and I want to go riding together, but he's near Charleston, SC and I'm north of Detroit. As near as I can figure, the half-way point would be somewhere between Beckley and Charleston, WV.

We both have trials bikes and MX/enduro bikes (him KXF450, me 2T wr250)

Just looking for someplace to goof around without getting in trouble.

There are trails everywhere in Southern WV and most of them are open.

Just south of Beckley is Burning Rock which sells permits to ride. Their trails are graded from easy to difficult.

SW of Beckley about 30 minutes is part of the Hatfield-McCoy trail system which also sells permits to ride. I think they have at least five trailheads now with over 500 miles of trails.

You can find more info on both these trail systems on their websites.

Wish I had a true dirt bike, I could show you plenty of trails in the area.

Have a good ride.

There is a good days riding just a few miles west of Fayetteville, WV on Cotton Hill Mountain. All open trails there and since it is bordered by the New and Kanawha Rivers, you can't get lost. I can show you where to park and point you to the trails when you get to the area.

The small towns around the Hatfield-McCoy trail system are very bike friendly. You can ride off road bikes and ATV's into town for gas, food and lodging.

Thanks to Gabby for the links. I have trouble copying links from the address bar on my iPad.

What is your time frame for being in the area?
