There's also the detour on 89 South of Page, due to the landslide.

Burr Trail?

Capitol Reef?

North Rim of GC is what I prefer, higher and less folks. Cape Royal is a must do. If time permits, check out Cedar Breaks NM in UT. Stop in at Mt. Carmel Junction, 9 & 89, for some pie at the Thunderbird.

You gotta ride Hwy 12!

Ride the 89A from Wickenburg through Prescott, Jerome, Sedona and up to Flagstaff. Don't miss Monument Valley, Goosenecks of the San Juan. The North Rim is the place to see the Grand Canyon. Don't skip the ride out to Cape Royal. If you are gonna head south to ride the 191/Coronado Trail you could also see Canyon De Chelly north of there. The entire Utah 12 is worth driving.

From PHX to Wickenburg google & GPS' always tell you to go through Grand ave(route 60). This route really blows.

Depending on where you are in the valley you might want to head West on the 10 and then run up through Vulture Mine Road instead of the 60 like so.

If you're starting your route from the North side of Phoenix then take the Carefree highway to Wickenburg instead. Anything to avoid that 60.

191 is the best paved road in Arizona, IMO.

Not if you are heading North out of Springerville.

Having lived in AZ my entire life, and ridden/driven ALL over the place, here's how I would do it:

Phoenix on US60 to Wickenburg. From there take 89 past Congress and up Yarnell hill. Follow that road all the way to Prescott, it's a neat town. From there take 89A over to Jerome. From Jerome stay on 89A to Sedona, and continue on 89A up Oak Creek Canyon to Flagstaff.

Stay the night in Flagstaff.

From Flagstaff take 89 north all the way to route 64, go left, and check out the Little Colorado lookout a few miles down. When done return to 89 and continue north. When you get to The Gap (tiny town) take a right onto Indian 20. This takes you to page, and is half dirt.

From page continue on 89 north, across the Colorado River bridge. After a while in Utah take a right on highway 12, which is one of the best roads anywhere. Stop at Bryce Canyon park, and then continue on highway 12 heading east. Depending on where you're going, you'll either take 24 or 72 back to the highway.

191 (old Route 666) IS the best paved road in the state, but it's so far from anything. 4 hours from Phoenix, and when you're done it's another 4 hours back. Not many facilities on the way either. Nice ride, but not as scenic as what I've posted above.

The chow at the Burr Trail Grill, on hwy 12 right at the top of the Burr Trail is great. Everything is home made. Even the ketchup. Superior coffee, too.

Another really good restaurant up there is Cafe Diablo in Torrey. Any time I'm within striking distance I stop by.
