The Australian Yamaha TTR 250 thread

Just picked up one of these yesterday with plans to turn it into a long distance tourer During my research, I noticed that lots of Aussie ADVers have or have had one of these bikes, so please post up your experiences, good and bad, of what I think is a bike that is going to open up a whole new and exciting chapter of my motorcycle touring
I'm excited!!!!!!

I have the GYTR muffler on mine. Sounds good but not too loud. Oh and by the way shit doesn't happen it is caused by arseholes.

Got a mate thinking of dipping his toes in the adventure riding water, but he's short and skinny and does not want anything too big and heavy.

Was originally thinking of maybe a DRZ 250 to suit him. I assume the TTR would be pretty comparable to the DRZ ?

I had an FMF Q4 and a twin air filter on mine, great little bike, nice wide ratio for cruising,

yeah..

sort out the suspension, looks like you have high bars and just ride it..

My bike, Phils old hand me down, is now my GF's bike, she loves it. I put an FMF Q4 pipe on it, but all it really did was make more noise, the standard pipe is back on, plugged up the holes I put in the airbox try to get more air and fuel in.., pretty much back to standard with the jetting. it goes just fine.

Joe

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!"

Wrong choice Dave, that test ride I gave you should have shown you that. Let me know when you bring it down this way, I'll show you the error of your ways.

The biggest issue with the CRF was that I felt like a kangaroo on a ping pong ball, the TTR is a full sized bike, nearly the same as the DR

Yeah, lucky I'm a little bloke. Once I load it up there is not much room left for me. When you get a plate on it you will have to bring it up, I've got a trip planned. Have to be after mid October though, I have some more cervezas to scoff.
