Thanks Rot Box. I traded the `94 320 for an `81 GS490 in need of a full resto.

Check these out. All big bores and all sold some time ago, along with some others. I had them all at the same time and could not get into my shop:

I'm not a Maico connoisseur by any stretch but I do know that GS490 is a very rare bird. Sounds like you made a good deal

Very nice bikes/pics btw!

Yamaha IT490. I had a few heroic get offs on that bike, I was not a very good rider in my teens, lol. I also recall it pinging and snorting more than my old 175.

First pic is a KX550AF I built & then sold. Built a KX525AF before it, both used cr250r frames. I get bikes straightened out & running nice sell it then start on the next project. Right now I have the motor out of my 86 cr500 working on another AF bike, 2003 cr250r frame. Also have an 87 kx500 , it'll be a 560 when it's done, its in buckets right now though. It will be a keeper. Need to find a motor for the current af so I can keep the 86CR5 too

You could say I'm an addict, I've gone through half a dozen or more cr5's && 5 K5's in the past 12 years

I started with a little 2 stroke as my first way back in '82. A 1977 DT250. Loved it, abused it and it never let me down. Fast forward over many years and many large, fast 4 strokes, up to 1100cc
Got away from m/c for a bit until I picked up a 1976 GT250. Yet another 2 stroke. Finally found my way back to the DT's this July.
A 1976 DT400. A true barn find for $400.

And now, only a little over a month later, and getting her together tight.

Always wanted a 400 from back in my DT250 days. Had a riding buddy with a YZ400 and always loved the feel. Now at almost 50, I finally got it
Some guys get corvettes and younger women when they turn 50, for me, I enjoy vintage, large 2 strokes.

I'll have to get some pics, I have a 91 KX500 and 76 YZ 400, used to ride an 85 CR 500, my brother always loved big 2Ts had every big RM ever made. There's nothing like the power of a big 2 stroke.

How do you go about getting one street legal though? I've always fantasized about riding my KX on the street.
