Who runs an auxillary gas tank?

Heres mine, have put about 8k miles on this setup. Its a 5 aluminum fuel cell with rubber mounts for the stock luggage rack.
I wait untill my primary tanks hit reserve, then turn on the petcock for the aux tank. It fills the front tanks, and doubles my range... I like it
And no the 40 extra pounds isnt very noticeable and I still have room extended two week trips.

You do have to be mindfull of things, like "do not turn on aux petcock untill there is enough room in primary tanks".
I never made that mistake.

My last dual sport (DR650) had an 8 gallon aqualine, and sometimes I would run a 3 gallon aux... now that puppy had some range! I'll have to find a pic. of that one!

I ran a set of pete640 rear tanks on the 950,carried close to 18lts for the rear tanks.......fantastic quality/finished items! With the std oem front tanks was a bit over 40lts,gave good fuel range /and bike was good to ride/not to much weight on front end.

Those are both cool setups!
I've been thinking about going 2into1 and runing a tank where the muffler was. probably only 2 gallons would fit there, but 7 gallons would still be better than 5 with my mediocre gas mileage.
I was expecting more replies, most people must carry small jerry cans or something.
Theres nothing cooler than having the confidence to ride further into the unknown, or my favorite, Pass the gas station at 2 am in the middle of nowhere where the scary drunk local kids are waiting to mess with anything that moves!

Ive got hold of the same reartanks from Pete640 and mixed it with some Aqualines i hacked up a bit. I dont know how many litres my aqualines actually holds but they should be good for min 38l + 18l.

This one is good for 2.4 gallons, which gives me a range of a bit over 300 miles.

I have powercells main tank and cjdesigns auxillary tank. One of the best combos for the SE owner in my opinion. Also have mounts for my racks to get a rotopax 1 gallon on each side which I haven't used since installing the 2-1 and cj's rear tank.

Now if they would only make one for the right side of the bike as well it would be the perfect setup with a GPR 2-1 exhaust. 4.4 gallons of goodness.
