The Knoxville, TN Thread

An official thread for East TN & Knoxville, TN folks.

Hello, new to advrider. I'm from Knoxville, TN. This is my first dualsport bike so wanted to reach and find some others in my immediate area. I'm a small cc bike so can't really travel that far with it. I grew up on dirt bikes and owned a pure street bike for a few years. Never took a liking to the whole "crotch-rocket" scene so ended up getting out of it. Here I am several years later and riding a brand new 2014 CRF250L. I do not have any friends or relatives that ride so it would be nice to hear from others in the region and maybe even setup some local meet&greats/rides.

Just read through that thread and sub'd for future reading! I was hoping to find some Knoxville specific people though, as I can't really venture out that far.

I don't know that many of us here that live in K'town proper, other than a couple out on the west side of town. Knox county as a whole is huge and has some nice country riding especially the Halls/Gibbs and Corryton areas. You can lose yourself for hours there and then start drifting toward Gainger Co. and then pushing north over Clinch Mountain to some great riding.

South Knoxville is amazing as well. It's one of those "you can't get there from here" kind of areas, but it's worth the time on a lazy Sunday morning.

That's all street stuff. There isn't a whole lot of dirt in the county anymore. There's a tiny stretch behind Kohl's but it's pretty washed out and nasty the last I heard. If you want Forest Service roads and what not, you'll have to travel just a little bit from town, but that bike should handle it without problem.

I'm slow and tend to enjoy the sights as opposed to just blasting through and I'd be happy to show you some of the stuff closer in to town. Just give a yell.

Quick Edit:

Come by the Time Warp Tea Room tuesday evening if you can. It's on Central (there's direction and links in the other thread). It can be a nice way to meet some folks. Several of us grab a quick sandwich to eat and shoot the breeze for a while. Look for the black/white Dakar and say Hi and we'll get introductions under way.

Sounds great! I'd love to find some nice fire roads. Have you been up to the Norris watershed at all? I heard that was a good place for putting around. I'm 28 years young but got most of my racing out during my teens. I'm a pretty slow/safe rider now. Can't afford to be out of work. I'll try to swing by on Tuesday if I can get permission from the female unit.

Just added EJK to mine. Pretty happy with it. Not sure if I want to add a FMF setup or not.

I've not been getting much riding in between the rain, work, and what's been diagnosed as achilles tendonitis and a possible stress fracture.

That said, I live in Knoxville around 4th and Gil, and am on a 2013 CRF250L.

What time do y'all generally meet up? I tend to do 10a-7p at work 'cause I suck at getting out of the house earlier, but will make the effort for inmate socializing.

I do an 8-5 mon-fri downtown near the old Regas building. I ride rain or shine and usually take the long way home

Friday to monday 730-2100 90 percent chance of riding my bike. However, my commute is roughly 124.4 miles each of those days.

I love the FMF but it is loud.
