South Africa, Western Cape, Gysmanshoek pass - day trip - 490 km
Gysmanshoek pass, did the trip almost 5 years ago
Just had the feeling for doing it again, because it’s there
Early morning coffee stop, Pig’s snout
Swellendam, Breede river
Then onto gravel
Tradouw pass in the mountains
Farm animals beside the road
The might of nature, taking away the road after a flood – Duiwenhoks river
Almost missed the turn-off
That surely must be “Kopberg”
Last turn-off to the pass
There must have been a huge fire that went through this region, but the green vegetation is beginning to grow again, nature has it’s ways
And this is what we came for, truly beautiful – beats the concrete jungle by far
Over the pass and going down
The destruction of fire, luckily temporary
Deserted, no body home
The road we came
Time gone by
Towerkop, Ladismith, in the distance
End of the pass, almost looks like a moon landscape, fine white dust, everywhere
The other side of the mountain
End of the gravel, from here on, it’s the black stuff
Fill up on Route 62
On to Tradouw pass
Andries Uys bridge – old and new
What a magical day trip
