Yeah well...

Hi DallasDRZ! Are you coming to Clayton this year?

I'd reply with a witty answer to you woodsy but I can't. I'm a pretentious BMW snob now... One that still bleeds orange?

Hoping to make it this year. I'm overdue for a camp out.

Anybody got a more specific location, like where you buy the permit, or where the campground is? The "map" link on the Ride Oklahoma takes you to Clayton Plumbing in Kingfisher, OK. A fine place, no doubt, but probably a little far from the trails.

Land Access Permits

This place sells them; http://goo.gl/maps/wNmMn They're about the biggest store in town. Has a decent grill, some hardware, and groceries...plus gas. Best place in town to stop.

The little store in Nashoba used to, but last I was there (early spring) it was closed...

Cool2 Two more!

Unless something happens between now and then, Doc bud and I will be in attendance. Looking forward to it!

I've got a few tracks. Lemme get them sorted, and I'll do some posting...

Deer Hunters?

Sooooo, in planning a good point got brought up. This is the same weekend as opening season for archery hunters. I know there are lots of hunting leases in the area, and that sometimes they overlap with trails. What's the consensus on this, and what have you guys done in the past to mitigate problems with landowners and hunters?

I have been spoken for by Hack'd on the head count, but just want to add that on our trip in the area earlier this year, we spotted a few stands here and there. Most of them old and abandoned, but that's just the ones we could see. Considering the presence of "nashoba hunting club" signs and gates, this has me curious....

Hoping to make it down either early Thursday or Friday and do some riding with some of the old timers. Anybody got any news about the old El Nino Supper Club run by the older lady, was wondering if she was still in business and what where the places hours of operation now

Also heard you could get the required access permit through your local Wal-mart if you request the right area? Anyone know differently.

Good point. As we (as motorcyclists and offroad enthusiasts) are perpetually at odds with various other special interest groups regarding trail closures, noise, etc. ... some care and caution is certainly warranted. Know where you plan to ride and don't just go "exploring" in areas that are of unclear use/ownership. Stick to county roads or marked/established (aka legal) trails. Some of the trails in the area have been closed as of late and the legality of some of these closures is always called into question. At the same time, you need to watch your ass. Hunters can be stupid sometimes when trying to protect "their" hunting areas. Beware of cables strung across trails or roads. You are being watched. Game cameras will be everywhere, so if you're trespassing on a plated bike... well, you know.

In summation, know where you are riding and ride in legal areas. Don't ruin it for all of us.

Example: Illegal road closure from 2011. We were riding into the sunset and this was tough to see with the glare.

Dirtydog, can you confirm which trails are 'legal'? The area around clayton lake (all the way to talihina) is not oachita national forest area, so we can't use that excuse. For example, the K trail. Would be a 'legal' trail in my book..? Didn't look so with all the gates locked as we discovered. Again, the 'nashoba hunting club'
