1190 Adventure power socket

I would like to change the power socket fitted to my 1190 Adventurer to the smaller type fitted to BMW's etc. The socket is fitted to the left of the instruments .

I have removed some of the left side body panels but it looked as though the air intake needed to be removed as well which I didn't fancy. There is access from below the socket but not that much so I thought it was time to ask.

Does any body know if the socket can be removed from the top side?

Many thanks

Don't they have a plug to put in there so you have the small socket?
