You know, I have to admit there is a side of me that pulls for Ducati because I've always been a fan of the underdog and the little guy that can stand up to and beat the giants. However, after watching MotoGP over the last several years and WSBK this season I've come to realize they are becoming little more than a "lifestyle brand" just like Harley as you mentioned. They simply do not have a competitive racing program even though that's supposedly what their primary mission is........next to turning a profit of course.

maybe Dovi did have it coming for him, but Nicky's pass was still screwed, because they both went off the track, and because of that, lost a position to Smith.

Which is exactly what happened at Assen, in reverse.

Not defending the pass, other than to say it was payback.

Clearly MM is the new benchmark, even conceding JLo's and Pedro's current health issues. Brilliant race from MM.

Rossi showed some real grit in coming through to 4th. Getting past the Bautista and Crutchlow battle was epic.

There appears to be some bad blood between Dovi and Hayden, and if there wasn't before today, there sure is now. Too bad that last corner pass cost them a position, with Smith sneaking by amid the chaos.

I will admit, as a Hayden fan, I loved it.

Congrats to Marquez for sweeping the American rounds. 2 of 3 tracks new to him make the victories even sweeter.

With due respect to Ducati owners here, seems like the Ducati is the kiss of death for one's career. I'd be hesitant if I were Crutchlow.

The extra 0 on the paycheck alleviates the hesitance.

Yeah, if I was Cal I'd take the Ducati ride and the cash too. Who cares if the Tech 3 bike is faster unless you're on a full factory Honda or Yamaha you have no real chance of winning the series and considering these guys are taking part in what has to be one of the most hazerdous careers in the world you're never more than one weekend away from being injured and never racing competitively again. So when someone offers you your first really big paycheck you've got to take it.

Just out of curiousity, I wonder how much money we are actually talking about here. Cal has personal sponsors, too, like Monster, etc, correct?

How much is he making this year?

BTW, MM did a great job of winning

Rossi did a great job of racing

Between $800K and $1M all told.

Ducati ride is for $2.5m/year + extras. I doubt Monster will be part of the deal.

That would be a missed opportunity for a race replica Monster edition, Monster.

Haha! That's a good one. Even Ducati would probably pass on that marketing opportunity though after having green and black bikes kick their butt in WSBK all season this year and last.
