I was hopeful I might be able to snag a spot and a seat in a trailer or truck to LA late tomorrow or early/ mid day the 28th. I am getting off duty tomorrow and if I can't carpool I will put the 17's back on the DRZ and ride to LA and back to Vegas on sumo trim.

I know it's a long shot but I moved to Vegas semi recently and it's on the way for some of my fellow riders.

Please let me know what you would like for compensation I can meet you by the highway and bring my own straps.

When you arrive on Saturday, go get your vehicle and move it to the fenced-in area that is reserved for LA-B-to-V from Saturday, 11/30 to Sunday, 12/1. It's in the back. They will have a sign on it, but I don't know when they put up the sign. As I said, it's fenced in and locked up, I think.

If the guy knew how many rooms are booked because of LA-B-to-V, he wouldn't have made that comment to you.
+1. The busy area for the hotel is the Tropicana Ave side by the giant neon sign and main entrance. I'd avoid the parking structure and side areas.

Food in Helendale

(Cross-post from D-37 website)

At Friday's Gas 2, Checkpoint and lunch at Silver Lakes Market: Gas up your bike first, then get something to eat, and then check out at our checkpoint across the street from the market and gas pumps.

For food, try Fratelli's Pizza around behind the market first. They will have a special going with one or two slices of already made pizza and a drink. This should make it fast. You can also order from their menu but it will take longer. If they are too busy for you try Margarita's Mexican Restaurant (don't be drinking them Margi's though now, you hear) or JJ's Kountry Kitchen. Or you could also just get a pre-made sandwich or a snack at the market.

Remember, if you are riding with friends, try to group your gasoline purchases into one sale at all of the gas stops, as this will make it go faster for everyone. All have pay at the pump credit card availability.

Additional places to eat can be found by riding WEST on Vista Rd about 300 yards to the top of the hill. There are three more restaurants and a convenience store in the little shopping plaza on the lake. Also, the Christian church just west of the gas station may have burgers and dogs grilling.

NOTE: There is a small but well stocked Hardware Store next to Fratelli's Pizza. Harry (the owner) has metric bolts, duct tape and bailing wire - I'm just say'n...

If you have a plate, you're good. You don't need no stinking steekers.

You should go to Rowher Flats. That was the start of the course two years ago. See here how to get there:

http://ohvguide.com/maps/rowherflat.htm

You go south on the 14 freeway from Palmdale. You'll want to take your bike in a truck.

There's also the Jawbone area north. That's about an hour or so north.

I have been trying to get on d37 for a few days now and each time I wait for my account to be validated so I can post, it keeps clearing my account to be out. Anyone that can post on my behalf I would greatly appreciate it and will happily buy you a beer. Or better if somone from D37 can save me from pre-journey monkey butt.

Ride east on any paved road 'till you get out of town (maybe 15 minutes). Once you're in the desert, get on the first dirt road/trail that takes your fancy. . Your boundaries are Edwards AFB to the north, HWY 14 on the west, HWY 138 to the south and US395 to the east. That will keep you within an hour or two from your hotel. PM me if you need specific info.
