2013 Ktm 500 xcw Transmission issue ???

A friend has started having transmission issues at 15 hours on his new 500.
In 4th or 5th gear under load it feels like it is skipping, its okay in 6th.
Its at the dealer now, we are waiting to find out what is wrong and if Ktm will do a good will warranty since they only come with 30 days.

Has anyone else had or heard of issues like these on the new 500 ???

I know, same here and everyone we talk to.
I'm really surprised of this.

The dealer rode the bike and said something is definately wrong with the Trans.
He called KTM and they said they will cover the parts but not labor.
That seems kind of screwed up not covering the labor too.
I know the bike only came with a 30 day warranty and technically they dont have to cover anything but Cmon, this $10,000 dirt bike only has 15 hours of sandy 2 track riding.
This is his third brand new KTM or Husaberg purchase in 4 years and he is not real happy with the cheap wheels they put on it also.He has had to adjust spokes a few times already too but never had to touch them on the other bikes with Excel wheels or DID Dirt stars on the Berg.
We also noticed the triple clamps are cast and not billet anymore either.
Ktm keeps jacking up the price and now they are also taking stuff away.

KTM does that, pays for parts only. My friend had his bearing go on his new 500XCW. The dealer covered the labor because it was the right thing to do.

The dealer called and said Bob could come and pick up his bike.

He said the shift fork was wore out, and it took out 2 gears.

Seems crazy with 15 hours.

Ktm covered the parts but Bob had to pay the dealer labor around 450.00.
He is not too happy about that.

Did he get the parts, or at least a photo? I'd have asked for the parts or to see the parts before paying that $450.

Not exactly sure how a shift fork wearing out can 'take out gears'.

Not engaging fully will wear the dogs rapidly and damage the gears.

Tough luck, but I'd be happy I got the parts paid for, its a race bike.
